"My experience was great in the beginning but conflicted at the end. The firm was in transition from the recent merger."

I worked at Ballard Spahr full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The promise of better systems and benefits after the merger.

    Cons

The cons I truly do not hold against Ballard Spahr. The previous owners I do not feel presented a fair assessment to Ballard Spahr. I have heard that over the course of 3-5 years Ballard recognized some of the problem children and honestly these were season veterans and took control of those areas and eliminated some of those from the roster or took control and monitored.

I have been working at Ballard Spahr

    Pros

It is a very employee friendly firm. The Los Angeles office is just over a year old. The relaxed atmosphere makes it a pleasant place to work. The management is very concerned about employee satisfaction. Full benefits are offered and employees get 20 days of vacation beginning the first year of employment. The employees also have a good support system in Philadelphia.

    Cons

Some of the systems are not efficient: For example, two different timekeeping programs are being used. One of them is used by staff and is old and should be discarded. The other one, which is used by attorneys who enter their own time is the better one and should be the one used by everyone.
