I have been working at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Independence. Job security. Flexibility. Travel.

    Cons

No training. No advancement. Under paid. Poor communication. Too much travel.

    Advice to Management

Document procedures. Equip your engineers so they can test the products. Empower employees to share knowledge, procedures, and client data. Too much guessing and rolling the same boulder up the same hill day after day.

I worked at Bally Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The biggest pro is how transparent they are. With most larger companies this isn't so much of a pro but I found it nice to know how invested every employee was with the company.

    Cons

Horrible hours, management didn't ever understand human limitations or when people were overworked or annoyed at certain upper level personnel.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like humans and not robots.

I worked at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

hundreds of people that love the company and put their heart into their jobs. Gavin Isaacs is a champion. Some of the turds from the Bally days are gone.

    Cons

excessive amount of Director and VP titles.

    Advice to Management

trim the fat and take an honest look at some of the people that are not adding anything positive.

I worked at Bally Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people that worked there, were great people. Met a long of good talent and people. Paid holidays were a plus, but other than that. Not much to say about pros

    Cons

Very disorganized software team. Most days I would be coming into work not knowing what needed to be done.

    Advice to Management

Well, need to work more organized and get things done more quickly. I found the bureaucracy made things incredibly slow .

    Pros

    Leader in industry.... Good products...

    Cons

Senior management is almost absent from day to day operations. They promote solely based on situation and not skills, aptitude, and tenure.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the entry level managers and supervisors. Provide training to continue to promote the upward mobility that you speak of. Be fair in counseling and correcting behavior.

    Pros

The people for the most part are great. Recent restructures have cleaned out a lot of the "dead wood"-people who got paid a lot to do nothing.

    Cons

Not competitive on pay. A lot of politics particularly around offshore activities.

I have been working at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I have a great manager and is given the freedom to do my job without micromanagement. There is a lot of variety and challenges with my day to day work so it does not become boring. My co-workers and team mates are smart and hardworking and want to do the best job possible.

    Cons

There is no direction from upper management. There seems to be lots of discord with upper management so decisions are not made. Most projects start as emergencies that become a lower priority when another project becomes the emergencies. It can be difficult to complete projects with the constantly changing priorities. There are limited resources to help with projects. No raises for 2015, even though the people doing the work had no impact on whether the financial goals were met. For the people below management their work is the same regardless if financial goals are met, but are still not getting the recognition. I think this will lead to decreased employee morale and more people leaving.

    Advice to Management

Give up your big bonuses and give raises the employees who are doing the work on the front lines. Management needs to work together as a team and not just look out for their own interest.

I have been working at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Inside look into casino gambling but not learning anything new or relevant to the real world...

    Cons

Overworked with little life balance. Not enough compensation for actual job responsibilities performed. Too many kingdoms and politics to deal with.

    Advice to Management

Re-access each job responsibilities in comparison to market salary rates. A more focused approach to relevant projects that have a future. Too much wasted time and effort in projects that go no where.

I worked at Bally Technologies (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Great people scattered throughout the company
    2. Opportunities to travel to cool places
    3. Decent work/life balance

    Cons

    1. Horrible middle management protected by senior management and HR. Witnessed multiple instances of discrimination, sexual harassment, and offensive language but can't report it unless you want to lose your job.
    2. Politics, politics, politics. If you want to be treated well or promoted then it's not about how hard you work, it's about how much butt you kiss. And even then that might not be enough.
    3. Management could care less about you: "You're just lucky you have a job"
    "dont like it? Then quit"
"layoffs are coming and no one is safe"
"what makes you think you deserve a promotion?"
And on, and on, and on.

    Advice to Management

Stop protecting middle management and realize that every employee is valuable and deserves to be treated as such.
