I worked at Bally Technologies part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people who work here are very helpful and willing to help you learn. The environment allows you to work on whatever you want to, even if you don't have skills in that area.

    Cons

After a while the work becomes very repetitive, and can be boring. There is very little documentation on internal tools.

    Advice to Management

It was sometimes hard to find work to do and felt like we were forgotten.

I worked at Bally Technologies (Less than a year)

    Pros

decent benefits, vacation time, casual dress code, promotes learning, and decent pay

    Cons

depending on the departments, it can be like a cube farm where no one talks to each other unless you're in their "click" and speak their language...

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Used to have family atmosphere, gender equality, creative projects, attitude of success

    Cons

Before merger: pays lower than Vegas market value, office politics are childish, incompetent management
After merger: New company has management that is driving the company out of solid production with poor technical choices while talking up their achievements. Pay is even worse than before with no benefits. Brain drain is breaking what used to be a great company.

    Advice to Management

Put your ego away, focus on team, rise salaries

I have been working at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I work with a great group of people and the work can be fun and exciting. I enjoy making games for people to enjoy.

    Cons

The buyout has sent the place into turmoil. Management tends to not know what is going on half the time yet they micromanage everything. Lots of "who you know" scenarios.

    Advice to Management

Trust the employees you have hired to do the jobs they were hired for.

I worked at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are plenty of good people at the lower level. The software engineers I worked with were knowledgeable in their fields. They were flexible with start times.

    Cons

Too many mangers and above. Too many times products were released to other departments before they were ready.

    Advice to Management

Let the people do their jobs don't micro-manage every little detail. Take a risk with new ideas. Too many of the games use the same symbols sets over and over except for feature and top award symbols.

    Cons

Middle management is too pervasive . Unless you are part if the old boys club
