Need to slow down and remember what's important

      Pros

Stable company, leading technology with some talented individuals working at the lower levels. Hopefully the acquisition leadership added will help with the past legal issues.

      Cons

Growing too fast, top level leadership have questionable ethics, all locations are treated differently with no overall company goal or culture. Promotions and increases go to those in the "in" crowds. No work/life balance. Many personal relationships fueling the business decisions. Comp and promotions not consistent among all locations. Good employees are worked hard and there seem to be no concern when they leave.

      Pros

      1. You have a job

      Cons

      1. No work life balance at all (11 hours+ per day) 2. You will get laid off if you are a US citizen eventually, if you are H1B or US Citizen with Indian background you are safe. 3. Replaced almost all US citizens with H1B workers from India 4. You need to attend long hours meeting at night with India

A software sweatshop - Nothing less, nothing more

Dec 6, 2013 - Senior Software Engineer in Bangalore

      Business Outlook

      Pros

No Maintenance work. Core development. Good to hone development skills, especially for freshers . Colorful office to work in.

      Cons

Absolutely no work life balance. If you finish the assigned tasks and leave on time, they will either complain that you don't take initiative to do more work, or they will put more work for you from next week onwards, just so that you stay up late. Minimum 40 hours per week is just for policy sake. It is actually 70+ hours per week, with no extra pay or benefits. Repeatedly doing, undoing, redoing the same work, just to please higher ups. Benefits and perks are very minimal (lunch coupons, Indian snacks in evening 8pm , cabs when you work late) - just for namesake, so that HRs can use the words - "benefits and perks" while hiring. Variable pay is a huge component in the salary, so that the organization can advertize that it is paying above market average, when it is actually paying much below market average (only comparing to other product companies) Senior Management and CEO have a single point agenda - increasing the stock price. Because they are working in a ultra specialized and niche market, after finishing 3+ years in the company, there is no future or scope outside organization. Many current employees are actually trapped, rather than staying in the company out of their own liking.

Don't do the mistake I did

      Pros

Salary is little higher than the market

      Cons

      i) If you are technically good and have some self respect then Bally is best avoided. They treat you like their slaves. Directors shout at you as if he is the master and tries to intimidate you. ii) No work life balance. Only if you work at least 12 hours a day you can grow up the ladder. If you go by 8PM, thats too early for them. iii) If you know how to butter your boss/director and be his yes guy then you can grow. If you tell a No then life is going to be tough. iv)Even though they talk nonsense at 3AM in the morning you are supposed to sit with them telling yes yes yes. If you ever tell no this is not do-able then you are treated like an enemy. v) They donno what process is. Everything requirement comes over phone and changes 3 times a day during discussion. No body knows what they want and you donno wat you are trying to develop. Please take my words and avoid this company. Don't feel bad as me after joining this company. You will also become outdated if you stay here for a long time. Once you stay for 2 yrs or more then I'm sure no other company will recruit you.

      Pros

more fun, snacks, biscuits, team outing

      Cons

when you will deliver the product, no training, manager will simply ask you to come and work on saturday , sunday and late nights. they will simply sit and spend their time with their family. you will forget your family members. no work life balance.. most of the money is the bonus.. even if you work hard, bonus is in the hands of the supervisior. when the good name comes , manager will take the credit, when bad name comes, manager will ask get the explaination mail from the team member and project it in the management meeting. manager is not having any coding knowlege. Always do the favour of his/her friend. All teams are doing same kind of work, so they will blame other team for silly mistakes. no promotion.even if you get gett rating above 4 and you are the team topper, you cannot get the promotion. it is in the hands of manager. you will not be projected outside world , what ever right things you do.

Not a good company for techies..

      Pros

They pay you better. May get onsite opp, but depends on team. Flexible timings

      Cons

They pay 30% more than industry standard. But remember you've to work 90% more than normal effort. They play very good game here.. you get 30 % more salary but need to do work that 2/3 persons does. they lock the resource by giving you heck of salary and you cannot jump out easily. Technically, nothing here.. using al outdated technologies. No work life balance at all.. Constant team changing.. they play wid resource as like they want. Hire people saying it ll be development job role, but end up in putting support projects. You need to do support weekends, 24/7. They won't listen to your personal needs. Be careful if you're joining here. make sure what team and role you ll placed. Do not get attracted by salary. You ll end up as a outdated candidate when you come out of this company.

      No work life balance.

      Pros

Company is Stable, I believe will not fire employee in case of recession. Domain is different than normal IT domains but have nice opportunities. if you are looking for stability but okay with stretching your working hours more frequently then its good place.

      Cons

No work life balance. Bally was known to play handsomely, but due to HR policies changes now its not like that. A large amount of CTC is part of performance bonus which are not given to most of the employees, its like variable but it will be given or will not be given, no percentage like other IT companies. If you are joining Bally just because you see good initial package just look at performance bonus first, which you are not likely to receive if its your first year in Bally.

No Work life balance and no respect to employees

      Pros

      Good Salary. Good development team.

      Cons

No work life balance. They will provide good salary but you have to work at least 12 hours per day without gap. That means you have to be in office for at least 13 hours. Poor planning by Management. They will deliver 6 months project in 2 months by squeezing the resources. Team Leads will work to Satisfy managers. Team Leads knows that their managers idea are not good but they will not open their mouth because to get bonus. HR is totally waste. They will not question the managers even though many of the employees complained about the work hours policy. Don't ever join this company unless you need money.
