    I worked at Baltimore County Public Schools full-time

    Pros

    Students are great and schools have a diverse population. Technology is a high priority for 21st century learning.

    Cons

    Long hours, low appreciation by executive directors, some executive directors lack empathy and training on how to mentor a principal through a problem and instead discipline and insult you to “resolve “ the issue. In general principals fear making mistakes and being demoted.

    Summers & holidays off Can sometimes reach a student and change their lives

    Cons

    Pay does not reflect the time and effort needed to be successful Weak leadership in many schools (Principals, Asst. Principals, Department Chairs, etc.) Central office makes the decisions, but it is filled with people who haven't seen a classroom in years System chases federal money Low support from administration

    -Parents and children rule in baltimore county public schools and teachers have absolutely no say without backlash -Principals and assistant principals frequently turn adversarial on staff members -
