    Pros

    Cons

The management is terrible. Surprisingly snobby.

    Advice to Management

Don't punish your employees based on how much you like them personally by giving them less, or sometimes zero hours a week, all the while hiring new people.

I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

One of my all time favorite reasons of working for the brand is transferring. I've worked for the brand for four years and have worked in four different locations and not only have my managers made an extra effort to compensate me appropriately at my new store but they've each given me phenomenal reviews.
I know many say hours are terrible but I've transferred various times, having to start from the bottom at each location and am continually able to secure at least 20-25 hours a week even in stores that may not always make goals.

    Cons

I wish there was more career advancement training/opening.

    Advice to Management

If you create a culture that sees upward mobility/growth training you create an environment where employees are genuinely excited to work because they will feel like their time matters to not only you but to the brand.

I worked at Banana Republic (More than a year)

    Pros

The discount is wonderful, and the in-store traffic isn't too bad.

    Cons

The "goals" for collecting banana cards are awful, and you're on your feet all day.

    Pros

Great discount on clothing; people respect the brand so it feels good to represent it; other employees where I worked were fun to work with but management was a different story

    Cons

Terrible pay; raises only a few cents at a time; reviews have a rating of 1 to 4 and management would tell you that it was impossible to get a 4 on anything-therefore impossible to get a very good raise; being sent home after only 2 hours of work; being "on-call" a lot; too much pressure on selling Banana Cards

    Advice to Management

Put less pressure on employees to sell Banana Cards and give them real incentive to sell clothes instead of just a basket of candy if they do well

I have been working at Banana Republic (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with, awesome employee discount, diverse mix of people you encounter everyday.

    Cons

The company is fantastic, there is nothing no cons to working for a company that started out as a family business. You feel like you're part of a family at Banana Republic.

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at Banana Republic (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great/kind management (Belmont Shore store, Long Beach California), fairly easy to switch shifts, customers are mostly sane and considerate, company takes your right to breaks/lunch/clocking in for anything very seriously, 50% employee discount at all Gap-owned brands

    Cons

Employees do not make commission, and while there is cash incentive for employees to sell brand credit cards, it's a lot of push for little return.

    Advice to Management

    Stay lovely :3
