I worked at Banana Republic part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, and a good employee discount

    Cons

Discount can only be used for you or your spouse, using it for others is seen as stealing. Used to have a too strict/formal dress code but I've heard its been lessened.

I have been working at Banana Republic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work life balance if you get into a well ran store with proper management. Good medical and vision packages available, and PTO.

    Cons

Over worked, and under appreciated. Not guaranteed all of your PTO.

    Advice to Management

If you're in management you need to be open to suggestions and give critisism while still supporting and uplighting team.

    Pros

Great benefits, Start with 4 weeks of PTO (5 weeks after 5 years, and 6 weeks after 10 years).

    Cons

I worked at Banana Republic part-time

    Pros

The people I worked with were wonderful. 50% off discount is nice at Banana, Gap, and Old Navy.

    Cons

Banana is struggling in the region. There is little chance of moving up. They are hiring managers almost exclusively from external since they don't trust current employees (which should tell you something about the relationship between district management and store management). Since Illinois is an at-will state, some managers are really terrible and WILL call you in for the next day at 5am--and you can be fired if you don't show. Minimum wage.

I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The discount is on regular priced items mostly, the morals of the company is great but still management weighs it down

    Cons

They make you do so much labor for basically minimum wage, the pay isn't amazing and they expect you to know every aspect of the job but won't pay you for it and I'm at the NYC location

    Advice to Management

Try to be a better example

I worked at Banana Republic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hard work is definitely rewarded. I got lucky that my managers where very hands-on in training and development.

    Cons

Easy to get pigeon-holed as a cog in the machine. Breaking away from part-time can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Invest time and energy in motivating and encouraging your employees.

I worked at Banana Republic part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Clocked in a lot of hours, was able to work around my schedule, managers were helpful and friendly for the most part

    Cons

High expectations, typical retail job. High traffic store, very busy during holidays and very bored during off season. Always either under staffed or over staffed.
