I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, flexible schedule, awesome discount, fun atmosphere, fun employees. I love working at Banana Republic Factory Store part time.

    Cons

Some of the customers can be a bit rude, but that's what to expect with retail. Most customers are friendly.

    Advice to Management

I know you have to push cards, but it gets stressful when it's a competition to push them on people.

I worked at Banana Republic part-time

    Pros

Great peer Associates and amazing Customers.

    Cons

The Management structure offers no motivation or team support during shifts. The Associates look in-motivated. An Assistant Manager commented that people do not stay long......I can see why. Spotted 2 of the Assistants in the back gossiping about their hard working associates. These 2 offered nothing 2 the Team and it's growth. Sales were ran by each hour through the transmitters without any passion or motivation......I had seen associates pull the earpieces out during these communications evidently because of the managements lack of motivation. The Management structure likes to primarily ring, leaving the cleaning and folding to associates. Managers watch you like fashion police on the dress code, but show up less than fashionable and brand representing themselves.

    Advice to Management

Have the Managers work along side the team especially on the floor.

I worked at Banana Republic part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Generous discount, fun co-workers. Now you can wear jeans to work - when I was there you had to pair jeans with a blazer.

    Cons

Dress code was the hardest when moving the displays, but now they've relaxed it. Customer service is tough during the holidays.

    Advice to Management

Little treats during the holiday season for employees would go a LONG way. Cookies or gift cards for coffee/lunch spots. Nothing fancy - just know how mean people can be during the "giving season."

I worked at Banana Republic part-time

    Pros

Thanks to an amazing leadership team, working as a brand ambassador was a great experience. They always made a point to acknowledge and reward the staff, were very accommodating with scheduling, and made the environment fun to go to everyday. You are basically paid to talk to people and the discount is also a huge perk! Great job to work while in school - would highly recommend!

    Cons

Only cons would be that it is a very repetitive job and near the end they started introducing individual sales goals which made the environment more competitive and less friendly.

I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great job for someone looking for experience
    - 30% employee discount at factory stores, even better for retail.
    - Reasonable hours if you prove you're a good worker
    - 401k plans are offered after working for a certain amount of time
    - Equal Opportunity employer; doesn't discriminate against certain religions.

    Cons

    - Workers are not rewarded for their loyalty or when they over-perform and exceed expectations
    - Employees are not given fair time switch jobs (like cash wrap and the fitting room)
    - No room for growth within the company for employees that may be interested in becoming full-time or be given the chance to become managers.
    - 5 credit cards only gets you $10 (before tax) on your next paycheck, really?
    - Shifts are inconsistent, need based system where employee comfort doesn't matter
    - Customers aren't the worst, but employees should be ready for anything. Managers do not do a good job protecting employees from verbal abuse customers dish out on workers and do not do enough to rebuke rude customers.

    Advice to Management

Overperformers deserve to be paid more. Give loyal workers more hours and more money; don't hire extra workers that are not needed.
