I worked at Banana Republic part-time

    Pros

The people I worked with were wonderful. 50% off discount is nice at Banana, Gap, and Old Navy.

    Cons

Banana is struggling in the region. There is little chance of moving up. They are hiring managers almost exclusively from external since they don't trust current employees (which should tell you something about the relationship between district management and store management). Since Illinois is an at-will state, some managers are really terrible and WILL call you in for the next day at 5am--and you can be fired if you don't show. Minimum wage.

I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The discount is on regular priced items mostly, the morals of the company is great but still management weighs it down

    Cons

They make you do so much labor for basically minimum wage, the pay isn't amazing and they expect you to know every aspect of the job but won't pay you for it and I'm at the NYC location

    Advice to Management

Try to be a better example

I worked at Banana Republic part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Banana Republic is a great brand to work for. Gap Inc., in general really cares about its employees. You get adequate training prior to starting your position and the working environment is friendly and welcoming. The customers were okay to deal with and it wasn't an issue cleaning up the store because my location had low foot traffic. I worked in a neighborhood shopping area and we closed an hour earlier than the mall locations. This was perfect on the weekends!

    Cons

Low foot traffic = terrible hours and shifts ending earlier than scheduled
If you want to work here, apply for a position at a busy location. Unless you're okay with working 15 hours or less per week.

I worked at Banana Republic part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

B R was a great place to work. Everyone was very supportive, and they were pretty understanding about time off requests, etc

    Cons

The worst thing about working here was the somewhat low wage. That, and the fact that the store I was working in was in the middle of a management transition.
