I worked at Banana Republic part-time

    Pros

The discount 50 percent off. The fashion. Some great people to work for and with.

    Cons

On your feet all day except break, can get overwhelming during holidays, the pay is pretty low, around 10 an hour, can get tiresome very repetitive work.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay for associates and leads and supervisor.

I worked at Banana Republic part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-If you are looking for a job that has a lot of locations and will give you hours, this is for you. They have numerous locations so it is easy to find an opening. Good for base minimum work.
-They give you a lot of hours if you want them
-There are many overnight shifts if you are a night owl
-Lots of locations in the city of San Francisco
-Discount for employees are amazing and they encourage you to try them on
-Management is amazing. While I worked there they were very kind, understanding and helpful. They want you to do well and they try to make it happen constantly.

    Cons

-Tier based company and if you need to get something done it takes talking to your boss who will talk to their boss... and so on.
-It seems to take awhile to move up in the company.
-Sometimes the amount of material is overwhelming, especially when you are starting: i.e. clothing material, cuts, prices, discounts, promotions, etc.

    Advice to Management

When giving instructions make sure that they are clear and understood. And with the instructions, always be open to questions. If you explain it to your employee once they probably won't need to be told how to do something again. Numerous times in the short time that I was with the company I would be given instructions, and then when I would go do what they told me, my manager would come by and tell me that I was doing it wrong or that he didn't want it done this way.

    Pros

Amazing platform for beginners to learn about retail, and helpful staffs.

    Cons

    Not much space for growth.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Banana Republic (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get a 50% discount on full-priced items.
First to see marked down items.
    That is pretty much it.

    Cons

The pay is so low that unless this is a time-killer job you cannot afford any of said clothing.
Extreme liberal ideology is spread throughout the break room.
The redacted that has since left was a misandrist.

    Advice to Management

Give larger pay increases than a nickle to a couple of quarters a year a possibly loyal employees will stick around.
Hire more full-time employees after redacted gets out of office and the Affordable Care Act is repelled and replaced.

I worked at Banana Republic part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you wanna get ahead in retail this place will allow that. Management and the employees create a work environment that feels sort of familial. There is also a lot of encouragement in this work environment.

    Cons

To many managers creates some tension.

    Advice to Management

    Have better communication.

I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The employee discount is awesome, the brand is respectable, and stock associates don't deal with customers a whole lot, if that matters to you

    Cons

If you're not available for 5am or overnight shifts, at least at my location, you probably won't get a whole bunch of hours. Not a good chance of getting full-time at all. Management definitely has some favoritism going on

    Advice to Management

Talking while working shouldn't be such an issue. Don't treat employees like kids, we are here to work. Also, yelling and threats of being kept beyond the scheduled shift is not very motivational

Stop making the credit card thing such a big deal

    Pros

Flexible hours. Great coworkers. Great manager who facilitated a great work environment. Easy work & not stressful at all. I was pregnant while I worked there and they were so great about me wanting to work right up to delivery and take a maternity leave as long as I wanted; (I was hourly and it was unpaid, obviously.)

    Cons

Didn't really have any. It met all my needs for a job at the time.
