Mentally draining
May 6, 2022 - Sales Associate - Stylist in Orange, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
the only reason I stayed for the time I did was for the employee discount really and also my coworkers were amazing.
Cons
toxic work environment, managers hire too many teenagers who aren't much help to the store, managers will also sometimes throw you under the bus when it comes to sticking to the store policies. That also brings up the reason why i left, the customers here are the rudest people ever, they seem to have no respect, class, and think they are so entitled.

Pros
The coworkers were nice and the employee discount was pretty great. Overall it was pretty fine
Cons
I really didn't like the management and they weren't often flexible with my schedule. it seemed like such a hassle whenever I wanted to ask off

Pros
Banana has a great clothing line that is easy to sell. Employees are given 50% discount on full price items and 10% sale items.
Cons
Very poor hourly wage with few attainable incentives. A good part time employee (25/week) has more opportunity to earn a 1% commission that full-time employees (32-39/week).

Great Job for People who want to Start Somewhere in Retail
Nov 28, 2017 - Brand Ambassador in Emeryville, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great staff - everyone is really chill/relaxed/funny, but also driven to work (not just stand around). Great 'Perks': Great Employee Discount! Gap Inc. also has perks for other things, such as discounted movie tickets, phone bill plans, and electronics. Great Clientele - The city of Emeryville/Bay Area (in general) hosts some of the nicest and most diverse people you will meet. You will indeed face some snobby/unpleasant customers, but overall people are chill and you won't have to worry about facing too many 'let me speak to your manager'-type people.
Cons
Can be slow; weekday mornings/early afternoons there are few customers, so shifts can feel long and dull. Tedious tasking: many times the managers will remind you to continue folding or approach customers even when the store is completely silent/dead. You definitely get the feeling that you're only folding to "look like you're being productive".

Pros
Flexible with time off and great discounts for employees.
Cons
Scheduling changes are often made at the last minute.

Visual merchandiser specialist
Sep 5, 2016 - Visual Specialist At Robson Street Store in Vancouver, BCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-Schedule! Monday-Friday 6am-3pm(if they like you personally and not only about your skills) Week end off. -Meet lots of nice people working with. -Discount % is good (but the employee policy discount is pretty ridiculous)
Cons
-The role of "specialist" is mostly about windows and mannequins in the windows and floor mannequins. Actually the role is about you doing the "dirty" & heavy works about the job like painting walls every morning, moving the mannequins from floors and steam clothes(that they decide 99%) and dress them and preparing windows promotions and related tags promotions to hang on the floor. No decision about things in general. Only follow the instruction. The supervisors and the manager don't teach or train you(they could be busy having a seat in the office) They never teach you what actually the merchandising is or the idea of rotation about back stock or creation about outfit on the table or outfits walls creation. They never teach you the visual merchandising techniques and 99% they don't share their method. It could be a better experience if could change their approach with the specialist. - you could work 16/18/24/30 hours/week If your availability is open(every day/all day) they give you hours if they like you..if potentially you can be part of that "sad" circle. Then..they consider your skills. I worked with some "help" "specialist" without any kind of experience and skills for weeks and weeks only because they had a good face and the management liked them. And I was one of the two expert specialist in the team at that time (but the other expert was part time) so hard time. Last thing This kind of job in this kind of company is fine for people without experience that want to earn some extra money and try to learn something about how to prepare a mannequins or paint a wall or use a drill to fix a shelf.

Sales Associate at Atlantic Station

Gap Inc. is a great company to work for! They are very active in community projects. Gap Inc. provides excellent benefits including 401K and tuition reimbursement to all employees as well as employee discounts to all three brands.
Cons
Management at the store level is horrible. Over the years, management has changed due to the increasing pressure from corporate. Since online sales have hurt business, managers are taking their frustrations out on sales associates when they can’t meet their sales and credit card goals.

Pros
the employee discount would be my number one and apart from that it is nice to work at such beautiful store
Cons
the management there is horrible

Pros
For me one of the biggest pros was the employee discount offered and the amount of product knowledge given to employees
Cons
For me the biggest con was the fact that they make you interact with customers even if the don't feel like being bothered and that so much emphasis was placed on making people sign up for brand credit cards. The pay also wasn't the best based off of how much is expected of a part time employee.

Pros
Very flexible. Great training and on boarding. Will train in multiple aspects of retail. Employee benefits and discounts are the best I've seen and heard from comparable jobs.
Cons
Only average pay. Somewhat uninformed upper management. Monotonous
