    Pros

As an outside calling officer you are given a lot of freedom over your time. As a full service bank including insurance and investments there are plenty of solutions available to meet your clients needs.

    Cons

Very limited training and development, it is VERY easy to get stuck in your present role without the ability to move up. Often instead of promoting from within they will hire outside the bank to "buy" an outside book of business.

    Advice to Management

Focus on your training and development dept, give people the opportunity to learn about new positions other than just on the job training.

I have been working at BancorpSouth full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to get good experience in banking and other experience as a stepping stone on a solid career path

    Cons

Promotion for most tellers beyond head teller positions is near impossible for most

    Advice to Management

Give more opportunities for advancement, knowledge, and experience to lower level employees outside of being moving into another teller position.

    Pros

Senior management is very knowledgeable. Great benefits package. Direct management is usually fair when asking for time off.

    Cons

Although the pay is comparable to other financial institutions, retail employees should be paid more than what they are. "You are the face of the company." I've heard this 100 times yet still make far less than one can at another company at a desk or clerical position.
The environment at every branch is different. Some I loved and some I absolutely hated. It is very hard to enjoy going to work and not enjoy the folks you work with. Most branches are very
    "clique-y"

    Advice to Management

Become more knowledgeable of operations on the teller and csr side. They rely on you for answers.

    Pros

Great work atmosphere. Employees truly care about each other and work together for the greater good of the firm.

    Cons

Senior management has gone overboard on the micro-management. Salaries are not competitive unless you threaten to leave. Opportunities are still obtained in a political manner.

    Advice to Management

Competitively compensate your good employees so that they won't leave for a few more dimes.

    Pros

Very small town, customer oriented company. Everyone is friendly and part of a team.

    Cons

Very slow to adopt new technologies. The teller system is the same since the 80's when it was first implemented.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid of change or spending a little money when it is necessary.

I have been working at BancorpSouth (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company benefits. They have a 401 K plus a pension plan.

    Cons

Lack of staff. Low pay raises.
Good employees work hard all year to get less than 2% raise. The motto now days is do more with less, what they meant to say is do more with less money. The little people sit and do all the work while upper management sit in their office doing nothing to help Tellers and CSR's .

    Advice to Management

Visit the branches and see how customers walk out of branches due to wait time with the lack of staff. The moral of employees is down with do more and not get a decent pay raise.
