I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1) Incredible management at the market and regional levels. Manager understands the sales cycle and knows what it takes to be on the 'frontline' - leads by example. Support is always there.

    2) BofA has a sales tool for everything the company has to offer clients. Has made me a better and more well rounded salesman overall. Company listens to end of year employee satisfaction surveys.

    Cons

Micro-management. A lot of small, tedious, day-to-day 'must-do's' from an operations standpoint. Takes away from client facing time and opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great job listening to your employees.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great compensation! If you work hard you can make more than your manangers.

    Cons

Not enough time in the day to get everything that you need to do done. Need to be very organized!!! Too many conference calls and reports that need to be completed, they take up too much time of your actual sales time.

    Advice to Management

Help coach, support, and organize the team to function as a well oiled sales machine. From the teller line to the Personal Banker to the Specialist Partners, the customer transitions should be smooth.

Employee benefits are an added value especially those seeking to complete college degree company offers generous tuition reimbursement

    Cons

Management team often has a segmented view of how to implement company's strategic goals which causes rework and employee burn-out

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Bank of America has excellent vacation and time-away policies. Including holidays and sick time, new employees have a total of 5 weeks off, plus the ability to purchase an additional week. My managers have always been very lenient with the work-from-home policies. They offer a good benefits package with healthcare including dental, medical, and vision, plus both a 401(k) and a pension. Annual performance reviews match annual bonusses, as well as company-wide bonuses if the stock and/or net profit is sufficiently high. The management team generally lets you do your job without interference. The first level managers are all former developers, and so understand what difficulties might be had without needing detailed explanations.

    Cons

Developers are on-call 24/7. The pager can be the bane of ones' existence, especially during peak processing times. There is a lot of red tape to get software migrations to production, which is both depressing and productivity-reducing. There is a lot of mindless and pointless training required by the government because they're a bank, even if you have nothing to do with banking customers.

    Advice to Management

    Improve the Change Management process.
