I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great salary, bonus, perks. Lots of opportunity for advancement or shifting careers (i.e. marketing to product development or software engineer to architect or network engineering). Opportunity for expanding skillset and education (e.g. six sigma program, executive leadership program).

    Cons

Too many acquisitions has caused the company to constantly be in flux. You will see a new department head change almost every year or two. Very rapid work environment, if you're not careful you will find yourself working nights and weekends. Six Sigma environment (extremely matrixed) that's a pro and a con.

  2. "Flexible Management"

I worked at Bank of America as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The department where I worked had a very flexible management. Management gave technical team freedom to choose the right solutions and methodologies. It resulted in some cool applications.

    Cons

Salaries are less attractive that other financial services firm on the New York area. Bonuses are less attractive too.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the open culture intact.
