I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits such as medical, dental matching 401K, educational assistance, paid maturity for females and males and much more. Room for advancement, community involvement.

    Cons

Constant presure to preform. Always changing the rules. What is true today may not be so tomorrow. Not enough hours in the day to get the job done. Goals unrealistic at times.

    Advice to Management

Don't micro manage. Let us do our jobs. That is what you hired us for. We can't be in 5 different places at the same time and still make our goals and get the job done.

    Pros

Very well resourced and plenty of opportunity. They supply you with all of the tools/ information one would need in a competitive commercial bank.

    Cons

The company is very large and moves slowly. Lots of red tape, but that is attributable to the banking industry. Got boring at times

    Advice to Management

Allow for individuals to make more decisions and reduce the "well so and so isn't here so he cant sign and the deal has to be pushed another week"

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very stable company; solid benefits (beside compensation); PTO is quite good

    Cons

    1. Absolutely horrible management from lower to upper middle - Bad management styles, managers have very little experience with anything other than basic operations; managers have very poor style of dealing with subordinates; managers have very little understanding of what is going on in their organizations because of poor communication, poor relationship with their full organization; Whole bank industry and company is incredibly incestual with senior managers
    2. Salary compensation is absolutely horrid for any company of this magnitude - earnings have been much better since '08 but BoA has gotten away with such poor pay since the Great Recession and they haven't made any attempt to come up to market standards
    3. Insanely bureaucratic
    4. Way of doing business is embarrassing from the inside

    Advice to Management

Start making your employees happy and put more effort into

    Pros

Great place to start a career in banking with lots of opportunities to move throughout the company. Good compensation with great benefits.

    Cons

Disconnected management who don't fully understand the work of their direct reports. High performs are forced to carry a majority of the work

    Advice to Management

Review your hiring process to ensure you are looking for the right people with a skill set that compliments your reliance on technology

I worked at Bank of America (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Better work life balance than most companies. Well defined procedures implemented in technology. Good benefits and surrounded by good people

    Cons

Management views people as expenses to be cut rather than assets. Constant six sigma style layoffs make you loose loyalty to a company that clearly has no loyalty to you.

    Advice to Management

Try going more than six months without a layoff or reorganization. It gets to be there is no point even remembering upper managements names because they will all be reorged elsewhere in less than a year.
