I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Multidimensional in that I performed teller and banker duties. There is also room for growth to the Relationship Manager Position to focus solely on sales or the Operations Manager/ Assistant Manager role.

    Cons

Staffing was always an issue for our region, not just my center. I struggled to meet my goals because I spent 70% of my time on the teller line. There was minimal support with management. There was also racial tension in our center, which was reported to HR. Overall, you will struggle in this role without proper support from management and an opportunity to sell.

    Advice to Management

Properly staff your centers and support your team. People perform better when the moral is high.

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Great training, good bonuses if you can reach your goals, mostly great people that you can stress with together, leader in digital/mobile banking

    Cons

Terminated for something I was taught by management to increase revenue. Was never told it was wrong, was never told not to do it, and when finally notified I immediately stopped. After Wells Fargo incident they began cracking down heavily on ethics and I was one of three managers that got let go. I was "made an example of" in my opinion. Spotless record, leading branch manager in the market, leading in customer service...

    Advice to Management

Realize that banking and relationships are about personal connections. This can't be cultivated if employees are constantly shifted around to other locations, unless requested. And look at overall record of someone before making the final decision of terminating them.

    Advice to Management

    Inability to move up

I have been working at Bank of America for more than 4 years

    Pros

    Good benefits, pretty decent pay.

    Cons

Goals increase exponentially, you're made to feel horrible for asking for any time off, and if you get sick and take more than 5 sick days (yet you get 10 paid as an employee) your written up.

    Advice to Management

Stop making people feel bad for time off. Especially when they are hard working employees.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

Great company to work for with amazing benefits and child care reimbursement .....

    Cons

Once comfortable at a location, most cases you have to relocate to another financial center ( closer to home or far away from home)

    Advice to Management

Upper management should give employees opportunities for growth within the company

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Broad choice of benefits and banking products for employees.

    Cons

Makes changes sometimes without getting all the primary players involved and then there is fallout that has to be handled by the parties that weren't involved in the process change even from a feedback prospective. Parties making changes have no clue what down stream affects it will have because they are not knowledgeable or have the right contributors involved before making changes or said process improvements.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the concerns of the worker bees when it comes to potential downstream affects the person doing the job knows the process and possible problems that could arise.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great benefits offered to even part-time employees. Easy to be promoted quickly.

    Cons

The company has cut back to make a profit after the settlement over the mortgage crisis. They have cut back so much that each branch has too few people to run. I've had to come in on my only day off in order to open the bank because the right people weren't scheduled. No one can take a sick day. Employees are offered paid time off for bereavement but they can't take it and still have enough people to run the bank....

    Advice to Management

Treat all of your employees and customers with respect. This used to be a company that offered great benefits to allow for a good balance of work and personal life. Now, you run your employees into the ground, don't staff enough people to allow anyone to EVER have a sick day and still be able to run your branches, and punish employees for having emergencies like an immediate family member having a stroke. That is unconscionable....
