I have been working at Bank of America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Incredible overall compensation package (salary + health benefits + employee discounts)!

    Cons

Difficult to differentiate your performance due to number of employees. Completing tasks which can not be measured is not always recognized.

    Advice to Management

Set reasonable and attainable expectations for associates.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Paid training
    Knowledge of retail banking
    Ability to earn bonuses
    Great coworkers.

    Cons

Pay is far below industry and they try to make up for it in benefits that are still not that great

Training is subpar. They hire people who've never been in retail banking and 80% of the training is computer based. Almost zero sales training. Once you get out on the floor you feel you know nothing and will make mistakes. Entire training class had similar issues .

If your manager and branch manager want you to succeed, you will. If not, good luck.

All in all, if you've never been in retail banking it's an okay place to start , but the lack of communication, organization, staffing and penny pinching that this bank does in my opinion make it almost impossible to stay.

    Advice to Management

To be honest, the relationship managers that I've dealt with feel similarly to me in the sense that this bank is destined for another Wells Fargo situation. The goals are too high, the management is disconnected, the customers can't stand the fees and the RMs are smack in their middle of it.

    Pros

Training is the best reason to work at bofa

    Cons

sales pressure, too many conference calls and check ins

    Advice to Management

stop with the 2 hour check ins, we are working very hard only to be humiliated if we don't have 10 core products and 4 partners by noon.

    Pros

The benefits are matching or better than most other companies. There is plenty of opportunities for advancements and access to classes for higher learning mostly at company expense.

    Cons

There is too much of a large gap between management salaries and those they supervise.

    Advice to Management

Pay the workers in the middle a salary to match their responsibility and work instead of title.

    Pros

There used to be Pros, but place has really gone downhill.

    Cons

Management is lost. No technical or business leadership. Threats of layoffs are constant. Hire totally inexperienced people. Everything is vendor driven. Internal Political wars are constant

    Advice to Management

I have given advise up to Band 2 levels. It's difficult to get delusional Senior Leadership to listen

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

good benefits, many programs, lots of atms in NY

    Cons

performance based on production, makes it a doggy dog world even in the same department..
no mid management so very little chance to move up.
too many chiefs, not enough Indians for the work amount.
focus on production rather than the individual worker.

    Advice to Management

If the process is working, try not to break it month to month. tweaking it does not mean introduce whole different procedure month to month.
micro managing does not produce happy workers.
