    Pros

Great benefits, pay was ok, BofA spends money on improving technology and training their employees.

    Cons

Regional managers are a joke. They only promote people they are friends with even though they are not qualified for the position.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at your hard working employees, the ones that deserve the chance to be promoted and stop promoting people just because they are complaisant to you.

    Pros

Great benefits and the team I work with is like a family

    Cons

There is a lot of responsibility associated with this job. I don't believe the base pay is equivalent to amount of work you do. You are not JUST a loan officer. You are basically managing a branch (sometimes multiple branches) going to meetings, constantly on conference calls, sending out reports, coaching the staff as to how to uncover opportunities, all the while trying to bring in new business and manager your pipeline. It is sometimes SUPER OVERWHELMING because you are spread so thin.

Your branches are pulling you one way and your managers are pulling you in another. The base and draw is simply not worth the amount you really do. I would be 100% pleased if my base pay was indicative of my work load. You not only work the branch hours but you ALSO work while you're at home to appease the clients.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Steady, good benefits. Four months of paid maternity leave is pretty boss. Technology is pretty nice, and they are making progress in that area as well. It's not likely to make you six figures, but it will be a steady income for you. You'll also get reliable benefits and support, something that is totally lacking in most of the mortgage industry.

    Cons

Low pay for the industry, though you do get a non-recoverable draw now. The non-recoverable draw for most LO's is equivalent to about $15 an hour. You're paid 28-64 basis points on each loan you close, including HELOC's. There are minimum commission amounts, usually $1,000 for a purchase and $500 for a refinance.

    Advice to Management

If you're going to make LO's do outside sales, pay them more basis points for it. Otherwise, do more to bring in bank business. LO's will work for lower basis points as long as we know that there will be business that we don't have to bust our butts to get.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay and benefits are great! Holidays off. The hours were good. Got out at 4:30 almost every day. Room for advancement.

    Cons

Overworked because they didn’t want to hire more people when needed. You could be the only teller that day, making it hard to even go use the restroom. Lunch is only 30 minutes long, which makes it hard to get food and eat it.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what’s happening from the tellers.
