I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work culture, decent salary and benefits. Some training provided.

    Cons

Technology is being revamped. Any one joining the legacy groups is in danger of getting terminated. A lot of Technology work is being outsourced. You have to work with staff that are not BoFA employees - this creates some friction as they are under a different payscale and different work culture

    Advice to Management

Hire more U.S based quality employeed. Do not look to cut costs with outsourced companies

    Pros

    Cons

98% of IT workers are Indian.
Indian workers in Management seem to think there is a Caste system in the bank.

    Advice to Management

Hire American. Help support the US economy. USA workers spend money in the USA.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Like the title says I was fortunate to be in a group where I had an excellent manager who was self confident. He provided opportunities as was a good mentor. He also understood that people had lives outside work. Work was busy and at a good pace but not so much where you had to to put in 10-9+.hours a day.

Vacation is standard days and medical is so/so. Work life balance is good

    Cons

Compensation is poor with respect to peers, and there is little room for advancement. Basically people stay put and do not move from there roles ... So there is no room to move unless someone leaves / Management is trying a lot of PR type programs but since they are in cost containment mode no real new projects or expansion opportunities for growth.

Give contractors enough time if they know that it will be difficult to extend contract beyond 18 months

    Pros

Good work culture. Nice manager. Good work and life balance. Career growth is depends on the group. Good to be there for 11 years.

    Cons

Salary is low if you are being there for long term. Some groups culture is not good as work and life balance would be challenging. Before moving to any team/group better to know their work culture and move on.
