I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Good work-life balance. Great for those who love to chill and read barstool/troll tinder (seriously, it's not a very demanding job).

      Cons

Not great pay. Only real path for most people in this position is to be a "relationship manager", which is basically a salesperson tasked with selling mainly (but not exclusively) treasury products. The bank will pitch this as a role where you can go anywhere and do anything within the bank. The truth is, again, for most in this role, relationship manager is as good as it gets.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 4 years

        Pros

Interaction across several groups within the business (operations, technology, risk, front office), several opportunities to get involved in projects and break up the day to day

        Cons

Inefficient processes, mismanaged offshoring, political, bad management

        Advice to Management

Better oversight of the offshoring process, monitor workload across teams, improve hiring practices to attract strong performers, establish a better culture- much more emphasis is placed on mistakes rather than recognizing a job well done, ingraining the message “everyone is replaceable” is not motivating to employees

        Advice to Management

fire Cathy Bessant and get someone who is more on top of, and in-tune with modern technologies Cathy keeps bank technologies in stone age. BofA will never catch up w/ JP Morgan Chase technology

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 9 years

        Pros

Strong emphasis for employees to give annual survey feedback on areas of improvement for employee satisfaction. There are good attempts of follow through but could go further.

        Cons

Speaking for technology, the company lacks will and budget for career development or learning new tools.

        Advice to Management

Commitment for training and employee development will strengthen every area of technology.

Former Employee - Compliance in New York, NY

I worked at Bank of America for more than 2 years

          Pros

I thought this was a generally friendly and professional culture in the office. However within my team, it felt as though the contractors were treated as second class to the permanent people in the team who managed the contractors, and this was counterproductive. Other than that, good co-workers, I enjoyed coming to work and doing the work itself. The other thing about being a contractor v. permanent person that seemed...

          Cons

Other than the above, contractors worked hard but didnt have PTO, ability to work from home or any of that. I wondered why there were so many contractors and why they couldnt be onboarded.
