I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

One of the biggest pros to working at a large firm is the diversity of people that you meet through corporate events. Additionally, individuals on the Global Markets Risk team are generally all well-connected and are more than willing to meet for drinks/discuss things outside of work.

    Cons

One of the cons is that the sheer enormity of the bank makes it difficult for one to fully understand how one's work plays into the larger picture of the bank's functions. It is not uncommon to get 'lost in the cogs' at such a large place, although managers and other teammates are generally effective and grounding one's work.

I have been working at Bank of America part-time

    Pros

    - Definite opportunity to progress through the retail Banking arm - Amazing training program - Systems are user friendly (for the most part)

    Cons

    - Experience can differ from market to market

    Advice to Management

Please stop having so many issues with our sales platform systems. Errors tend to be the norm, and reporting issues involves a extremely long phone call, and associates don’t want to waste precious sales time, so issues don’t get reported.

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Large platform, access to many offerings.

    Cons

Senior management team seems to be always at odds with one another resulting in a distrusting culture of associates below. The lines of business are often disconnected and without a true singular enterprise objective. Band 3-1 managers are often good to task, but lack leadership skills- there is little development/growth opportunity for bands 4 and above who are often punished for seeking better opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Stop the infighting at the senior leadership level and look for a leader(s) who can bring teans together for a common cause versues a “gotcha” competition style leadership. Spend time developing emerging leaders and promote them to other lines of business, don’t punish them with poor work environments/rateings because they want to improve. Reward those who are innovative, do not stifle their progress by adding layers...
