I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers, 4 month maternity leave for men and women, FSA Benefits card

    Cons

Horrible pay, Only Band 5 or below get bonuses, Managers pick & choose who gets errors, Risk department has say about everything even if it doesn't make sense.

    Advice to Management

No advice to management because they do not manage anymore. They do not want to deal with anyone's problems. So glad I am away from that place!

I worked at Bank of America (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pretty good benefits, lots of opportunity if you have a great network

    Cons

Constant layoffs, lack of leadership, lack of strategic direction in mid to lower level of management.
Salaries are mediocre in some departments. You're never in a position to ask for more compensation because your manager (who knows who you are and what you do) lacks the ability and controls to increase it. You will not know what your min or max salary is for your job code and conversations with your manager about it are useless. Bonuses in some departments are a joke and more insulting than their worth.

    Advice to Management

Senior leadership needs to seriously work on talent planning to develop their future leaders or there will not be a future.
Need to revamp entire project model for addressing quality issues and funding projects.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Definitely a diverse company with great insurance and benefits.

    Cons

Management does not treat their employees well or appreciate the work they do. They expect salaried employees to take work home, do the job of 3 people and work during a vacation.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the work of your employees and audit management.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The department often does fun things for associates. You won't go hungry at work. They celebrate every national food day you never knew existed. Friendly associates.

    Cons

No schedule flexibility. Some of the management team is shady. They are clearly doing a lot of trial and error. Some days calls are back to back for the majority of your shift. Customers are truly unnecessarily incoveinienced and we are left to deal when the issues could be more of a one call resolution.

    Advice to Management

Work with employees who actually want to do this grunt work and perform well.

    Pros

Most senior leaders are good but some are spread too thin. The health benefits and employee resources are very good.

    Cons

It can be challenging to decipher the available postings. Often they are posted in very cryptic phrases which can be a turn off. Also something's they are posted when there is already a person in mind for the roll.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Perhaps the greatest benefit of being at such a corporation is the size. Bank of America boasts hundreds of thousands of employees as one of the big four banks in the US, and it's a place where there are many avenues for career enhancement, opportunity and enrichment, provided that you look for it. It is established, and there is a high demand for innovation, structure and future-proof frameworks.

As an employee rounding near 5 years, I've had the opportunity to be a part of some the most grueling tasks at the Bank: QA. This comes attached with some of the hardest and tedious work one may find, yet I found a niche in developing automated solutions to QA processes, which opened a massive door to innovation and automation in this industry. And with an industry such as Bank of America, the opportunities are endless.

    Cons

With the innovation though, there are legacy frameworks. Perhaps the biggest pro also happens to be the biggest con. With the industry at such a large state, it is extremely hard to port entire systems within the enterprise to something new and innovative, largely due in part of risk taking. Not only are we not willing to take such risks, many people (depending on the branch you're in) aren't willing to take the next steps in innovation and change.

    Advice to Management

We need to change our legacy frameworks. 30+ year old mainframes stand a great testament to the word "legacy" but they need to be overhauled at some point.
