I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Benefits not much else that would be considered a Pro to work their.

    Cons

Too many to mention in this little space...if you want to be micromanaged by 5 managers and have no route for promotion and get a crumb of a bonus then this is defiantly the place to work for you.

    Advice to Management

Actually lead not suck up to managers above you. Also be truthful to staffers especially when their jobs will be outsourced

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Good benefits in a lot of different areas such as health, school, personal growth, volunteering, etc.

    Cons

BOA always wants their employees feedback but it never seems as if they actually take it into consideration. They just ask you to make you feel like your opinion matters when it doesn’t. Managers play favorites.

    Advice to Management

The culture really needs to be improved and put as much energy in your clients, into your employees.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

The benefits, vacation and sick time are unlike what any other company offers. There is a lot of opportunity for growth if you’re willing to move cities or states.

    Cons

Management has become so top-heavy that your direct manager no longer has a say in your development or performance. I have routinely witnessed my manager struggle with policies and guidelines implemented from above but not given a choice or allowed to submit feedback. When policies and procedures change, it’s very clear the ones making the changes have little to no experience in the roles their changes effect.

    Advice to Management

Team and lower level managers need to stand up to upper level management. Feedback needs to be heard and when policies are changed, better understanding behind the change would be helpful and allow front line employees to provide feedback before changes are implemented rather than after would prove to be a huge employee satisfier the bank always claims they’re looking for.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great benefits and the team I work with is like a family

    Cons

There is a lot of responsibility associated with this job. I don't believe the base pay is equivalent to amount of work you do. You are not JUST a loan officer. You are basically managing a branch (sometimes multiple branches) going to meetings, constantly on conference calls, sending out reports, coaching the staff as to how to uncover opportunities, all the while trying to bring in new business and manager your pipeline....

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great Benefits, it's a shame the culture is so smoke and mirrors.

    Cons

Horrible culture. Very dishonest and unethical practices. From being expected to work overtime but not allowed to clock it in to get paid, to deceitful referral practices. That are just like Wells Fargo, just have not gotten caught. They don't care at all about mortgage business. All they care about is getting personal bankers their goals. And getting customers to sign up for services not needed.

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Steady, good benefits. Four months of paid maternity leave is pretty boss. Technology is pretty nice, and they are making progress in that area as well. It's not likely to make you six figures, but it will be a steady income for you. You'll also get reliable benefits and support, something that is totally lacking in most of the mortgage industry.

    Cons

Low pay for the industry, though you do get a non-recoverable draw now. The non-recoverable draw for most LO's is equivalent to about $15 an hour. You're paid 28-64 basis points on each loan you close, including HELOC's. There are minimum commission amounts, usually $1,000 for a purchase and $500 for a refinance.

    Advice to Management

If you're going to make LO's do outside sales, pay them more basis points for it. Otherwise, do more to bring in bank business. LO's will work for lower basis points as long as we know that there will be business that we don't have to bust our butts to get.
