I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Definitely a diverse company with great insurance and benefits.

    Cons

Management does not treat their employees well or appreciate the work they do. They expect salaried employees to take work home, do the job of 3 people and work during a vacation.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the work of your employees and audit management.

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Solid Coworkers. Nice office location. Management often takes a hands off approach to managing so employees are able to do their job without someone looking over their shoulders. Decent pay and benefits for the work required.

    Cons

It is very difficult to figure out what it takes to advance. Management will often give vague and conflicting advice/guidelines on what to do to get promoted. Lack of unity/team work between different departments can make it difficult to get information or answer in order to perform your job requirements. Software/tech issues occur more frequently than one would expect for such a large institution and it can be difficult...

    Advice to Management

Start setting clear guidelines on what it takes to get promoted so it no longer feels like employee names are just being picked out of a hat when annual promotion time roles around. Consider doing promotions more than once a year.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Constant flow of calls coming so no need to chase leads. Team mates are very willing to help each other out. Good benefits

    Cons

Terrible training, Underwriting is a nightmare, unsatisfied clients day after day, no development from management to help you get better at the job, confusing and frustrating guidelines and policies, outdated technology, continual redundancies with every single application that is used by the company. Company priority is client delight but they don't address the problems to help me delight customers.

    Advice to Management

Better training and easier to use systems will definitely help me make customers happier and help repair Bank of America's tarnished reputation.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Health insurance is cheap, other than that nothing is really remarkable. The sales assistants don't do much, they could care less about loans closing and the amount of your own processing you are forced to do means that they aren't really doing their job.

    Cons

Most of your loans go straight in to the trash. Closing 15 loans barely gets you paid. The stress to close that many is unreal. The underwriters work against you and your client in an unimaginable way. Its unreal their business has sustained this long with such utter waste in resources to cancel good loans.

    Advice to Management

Stop putting 24 hours timelines to cancel every file you can. Moving it to the trash shouldn't be more valuable than getting to closing. The underwriters that are contractors are so, so terrible. worse than any contractors I have worked with in my past 10 years of mortgage origination.

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Good benefits due to size of bank

    Cons

Out of state processing and underwriting Missed purchase loan closing dates 90 days to close refinances Out dated underwriting practices that don't conform to typical mortgage industry standards that make it impossible to get loans approved and to compete.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro managing The Loan Officer does the job of the processor and the underwriters. To the bank this is a huge benefit to have loan officers do the jobs of others since we are 100% commission.
