I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

You get a paycheck every other week. And ok medical and dental benefits. Best part is when you get to leave, & go home.

    Cons

The managers don't know anything. Policies and procedures are too inconsistent. It's like they make them up as they go. Training is absolutely horrible. It's a complete joke. Bank of America has an extremely bad reputation for a reason. There are better companies to work for 1000%. Trust me! Don't work for Bank of America, you'll regret it. A complete waste of time.

    Advice to Management

Follow your policies and procedures. Don't just make them up as you go, and the change them every day. Treat your associates with respect. Don't smear them.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits are great. Health, 401k, maternity/paternity leave, sick time and vacation. There is also many different types of career paths one can take. Great options of retail banking isn't for you. With hard, consistent work there is great opportunities to move upwards or find a whole new career path.

    Cons

Work load vs. salary often times does not match. For the amount of responsibility one may have, does not equal to the low salaries. Because the company pays so little, turnover is huge. Invest in your employees and pay them more and you will have high productivity and reliable associates. Be ready to work outside your scheduled shift. EVERY center is short staffed and will work current associates to all oar your breaking...

    Advice to Management

I would like to see Consumer Market Managers and above seek out assistant managers and other associates other than Fincial Center Managers. Unfortunately, not all FCM's are not reporting accurate info to upper management and those who are excelling are being overlooked. If upper management took more interest in associates other than FCM, I believe they would find exceptional talent that would of otherwise been missed....

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

good benefits, paid vacation, building customer relationships, paid holidays.

    Cons

stressful enviorment, management was horrible. no employee appreciation or motivation or incentives. my life was miserable while working there.

    Advice to Management

show more appreciation for your teller employees. you only seem to care about your upper management. make incentives for your tellers to hit their sales goal. before promoting people you should consider giving proper training and knowledge to employees you have no clue how much i hated knowing more than my bcm because he never got to move up the ladder and experience being a teller.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great place to start if you want to pursue a career in retail banking, or in the banking industry. Great way to learn sales and operations, different products. Full benefits, especially for part time employees.

    Cons

Work/life balance is tough. Very goal oriented and stressful.

    Advice to Management

More flexibility, also allow BCM/AM/TOSS to do schedules instead of an outside person who does not know anything about the employees themselves.

    Cons

Sr. Management is very theory x, don't want to hear feed back from employees on how to improve processes, either you hit your goal or you'll be punished, belittled, and your entire market will know.

I have been working at Bank of America

    Pros

B of A offers nice benefits, and if you plan on staying there for more than 4 years you might have a chance at being promoted. Or you could expedite that process through a year and a half of brown nosing. For the most part if you need some leniency in your schedule you can always try to trade shifts with another teller.

    Cons

It is monotonous, boring, not challenging, repetitive, and it's completely scripted. You are constantly pushed to try to sell things that don't benefit customers. You are surrounded by people that think working at a bank means they are hot shots in the business world. Your performance is based solely on sales, but you are drilled to "delight" the customer. It tends to be hard to "delight" people and try to sell them...

    Advice to Management

Management needs to decide what their real goals are. Is it sales, or is it keeping your customers happy? It's obvious that pushing products or services that don't benefit anyone, but the entity that is Bank of America, is making your customers unhappy with the way you do business. Many of these consumers are smarter than you think, as a teller I've seen it first hand, these people don't want to be fed B.S. anymore, they...
