I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company cares about doing what is right for it's customers regardless of cost and expense. It was nice knowing I was part of something very ethical even when the media did not portray it as such.

    Cons

Like all businesses they need to react to changing market conditions and that led to downsizing which impacted my work location and me personally. So my time ended but I was provided support in my job search and a severance package.

    Advice to Management

Work to integrate the business as everything still seems very compartmentalized. Doing this would have major saving opportunities.

    Pros

Great coworkers and most positions pay very well.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Give bonuses to hard working employees (legal administrative assistants) like you use to.

I worked at Bank of America full-time

    Pros

Generous PTO, lots of perks if you Bank with them as well.

    Cons

Many decisions are made last minute (e.g. what hours will you be scheduled for on Christmas Eve). There are opportunities to advance, but you may have to relocate.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, good people to work with. Good ongoing training modules.

    Cons

Nowhere to go at my location. Tons of layoffs. Working hard doesn't necessarily mean promotions.

    Advice to Management

Should expand to other large cities with more markets. It is a world-class bank after all.

    Pros

    Cons

Company has no communication thru departments no one knows how to get anything done. They let people go with the most knowledge and experience and keep people who don't do their jobs at all.

    Advice to Management

Reconstruct the company from top to bottom. Have better processes and keep your good hard working employees instead of the ones that don't get the work done just to save some money its only hurting the company in the long run.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, excellent diversity and inclusion. Female leaders abound. Does thin out towards the very top though. Work life balance is okay as long as nothing is due soon.

    Cons

Too many buzzword aficionados trying to mask their lack of knowledge with fancy jargon. Downsizing is always a concern. There's still a culture of favoritism despite efforts to the contrary. Working across the country (and sometimes world) means weird meeting hours. Oh and way way way too many meetings and superfluous processes. They cut the little guy doing production but there is so much fat in the middle... some people have cushy do nothing jobs and others work like crazy.

    Advice to Management

Try harder to implement lofty ideals of level mgmt and accepting all contributions on the front lines. Fewer meetings, more doing.
