    Pros

Bridging the gap from Consumer/Retail to the various parts of the organization is a challenge, but there are endless opportunities when you finally do.

    Cons

There can be some roadblocks and outdated business practices that hold departments back.

I worked at Bank of America full-time

    Pros

Great office atmosphere and generous vacation time. Great opportunity to learn different aspects of commercial banking, depending on the Client team you support.

    Cons

Incompetent management and a complete lack of focus or consistency for the role. One office may use the SSA as an admin, and another as an associate client manager. The SSA manager in Chicago has no idea what it is that her employees do, and does not have the respect of the Client Teams.

    Pros

Great benefits good people challenging careers. A lot of opportunity to move around within the company or to different states for employment..

    Cons

The job becomes a grind and it's such a large company..

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

GREAT Benefits including tuition reimbursement, Flexible Spending Accounts, & Health Insurance options, and child care reimbursement.

    Cons

Career advancement is VERY scarce. Company usually already has someone in mind when posting a position, and the company does not offer training specific to career goals to advance.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be more aware of promoting internal growth and assisting associates to expand their opportunities within the company.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice office. Some good people. Advancement opportunities. Good job if your moving up the ranks from retail banking.

    Cons

HIGHLY bureaucratic. Company is (any one who works there will tell you this) a process driven organization. Not Results driven. The work is very redundant, due to the many systems that are employed that are not integrated. Lots of busy work. Seems like middle mgmt often takes on assignments to make themselves look like a high performer in the eyes of their superior. Ends up just keeping the SSA's extremely busy and unable to devote there time to improving the actually business (helping the portfolio managers).

    Advice to Management

Culture needs to be totally revamped. SSA role is far to admin oriented. Enough busy work already!

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

401K plan is good. 100% match up to 5% of annual salary. They deposit 2% at the end of the year on top.

Work varies between departments & managers, but overall a decent job except for compensation.

    Cons

Raises are based on salary, so if you start with a small salary they will not count for much. This goes for both promotions and annual raises.

Job doesn't always feel safe, as lines of business are shuffled and dismissed on occasion. When a position becomes available it is often filled before line of business associates even get a chance to apply (transfers from other departments, sometimes even from outside).

    Pros

Bnak of America has some of the best benefits (high on health and dnetal insurance). However, they do provide some flexibility for work/life balance more than other company's do.

    Cons

Advancement opprtunities are sometimes based more on who you know than what you know. I must admit we as employees must network to get where would like to go in the company, but associates near the bottom of the barrel in terms of decision making are not always fully aware of opportunities within the company. Because of that fact many people stay in positions too long with out knowing how to advance.

    Advice to Management

I think the Sneior Management should be more hands on with employees. This would give us an opportunity to really get to know who they are and what we can to do make this company one of the most admired company's in the world.
