I have been working at Bank of America as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pay, Close location in downtown

    Cons

Have worked 2 different contracts: 1st one I had extremely rude unpersonable coworkers and manager. They ended up leaving. 2nd Contract: I now have a decent, semi-caring manager who advocates but is a bit bi-polar.

    Advice to Management

Stop laying off valuable workforce, both full time and contract. It’s going to bite you more financially than keeping them and paying a salary. Untrained workers will cause damage. When you have ppl who don’t care because they feel they can be let go any minute you’re not going to get much work out of them.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large company where you could easily adapt to using a red swingline stapler and just become a number in a large organization.

    Cons

Promotions happen to newly created positions without the opportunity for others to apply for them. They call this transitioning into a new role. Promises to not lay off any more workers, and then two weeks later your team mates are layed off. LIES about reason that you received a 2% raise because it is based on % you currently make vs others in your team. Where in fact the highest paid member of the team received a 4% raise, and you at a middle salary, receive only 2%. FLAT OUT LIARS.

    Advice to Management

Massive trust issues with management. You cannot expect any employees to have respect for management if they are lied to all the time. The empty promises of no more lay-offs, at least twice in the last two months by management, followed by more lay-offs. Huge amount of favoritism, allowing blatantly incompetent people to advance higher than their much more advanced peers. Where is the cross check on promotions? Why is it allowed for a VP to promote someone without a cross check now? Compensation for a Sr. Engineer is on par with a project admin - when management is questioned about a raise they are told there is a CAP to % raise they can receive even though they are 30k under average salary for the position. Does that make sense to you? You expect employee retention?
