I have been working at Bank of America as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Company policy and HR policy is progressive and promotes work life balance. Reasonable salaries. Stable company. Very process oriented software development not the chaotic mismanaged process that you see in smaller companies. Large workforce and so options for horizontal mobility.

    Cons

Associates' career progress, quality of life, work environment etc can be controlled too much by the immediate manager.

    Advice to Management

There has to be anonymous and compulsory upward and cross evaluation of managers by associates to evaluate manager performance with respect to ensuring friendly and safe work environment.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work culture, decent salary and benefits. Some training provided.

    Cons

Technology is being revamped. Any one joining the legacy groups is in danger of getting terminated. A lot of Technology work is being outsourced. You have to work with staff that are not BoFA employees - this creates some friction as they are under a different payscale and different work culture

    Advice to Management

Hire more U.S based quality employeed. Do not look to cut costs with outsourced companies

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

At times, you are allowed to work from home when personal matters make it necessary. You can also flex your hours as an exception basis when necessary.

    Cons

IT is mired in their own politics vs focusing on business needs. This has been become so pervasive that folks are more interested in building vaporware with big sounding words than building something that helps the company become more successful.

    Advice to Management

Get back to producing for the business and providing a way for IT to be judged on that more than their own political structure.
