I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Scale means most customers will consider engaging with the bank

    Cons

Regulation, compliance and technological disruption are powerful headwinds. Regulation might protect the TBTF banks from competition but compliance & legal result in bureaucratic inertia.

    Advice to Management

Try to get ahead of the trends rather than sitting behind them.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Quick Promotions within Teller and CSR slots due to constant turn over 2 Weeks paid vacation, 2 weeks unpaid to home of record or deployment related (if/when they see it as convenient to let you go) 2 weeks sick pay $5250/year tuition assistance

    Cons

Crooked management who retaliate when you refuse to compromise your integrity. Upper Manager and HR Representatives who participate in this retaliation by lying about the actions of the managers who committed the retaliation. Associates are nothing more than an NBK or Z # - 100% disposable. No dental or health insurance. No retirement program. Nor 401K.

    Advice to Management

Practice what is preached. "Doing the Right Thing" isn't something that should just be listed as a value... it should actually be followed. Give associates an example to follow, rather than an example of what shouldn't be done. Above all, act with integrity or let someone who does take the lead. Associate's livelihoods should not be destroyed due to greed and cost savings.

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

BoA (including Merrill Lynch) was a good company to work for. Global organization and approach was very clear, and I encountered many, many good people from international offices as well as the the Charlotte NC base. People were easy to work with, direct, and cooperative, with a good sense of teamwork.

    Cons

The years after the BoA/Merrill Lynch merger had much organizational change, which took a few years to work through and finally settle down.

    Advice to Management

A sense of teamwork and cooperation was a strong part of the company culture, and made it an enjoyable place to work for staff at various levels of the organization.
