Dynamic, energetic group that strives to achieve success and results for all clients and peers. A really fun group too!

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good Immigration System , That's the only good thing about this company.

    Cons

I can't speak for the whole company but my team was one of the worst and most biased team and management I have ever seen. I was a part of Benefits Online team . They do not spend even a penny on their employees. Their bonus system is complete crap and you can't even buy a donut out of it. My Director(Manager's Manager) has used the "F word" to me several times. He has some favourites in the team who believed in boot licking and saying YES to everything he said to whom he used to prefer. My manager was one of them. My manager was not at all open to any suggestions and they just want someone who will say YES to whatever they say. My manager had his favourite employee too who used to lick his boots and boss over the rest of the team. If you are a person who likes a job with no progress , no fun and are someone who can YES to everything what your Manager says and take all the crap and abuses then this is a good place for you.

    Advice to Management

Benefits OnLine Management - Treat people fairly and please try and think that at your position, you have to show some maturity and not use the " F word" to your employees.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Talented and dedicated staff, competent management, good tools. There's a positive work environment here, and most are willing to help new people succeed and do what's needed at crunch time.

    Cons

Office conditions and amenities are dated and unpleasant. This is obviously an environment for folks who don't mind corporate life in the financial industry. Some artifacts of the ML merger still linger, causing dual systems and rules.

    Advice to Management

Be mindful of how hard you are pushing your staff, hours-wise. Some timelines are overly aggressive , and this has implications on product quality.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people were pretty kind. Though it is a very male culture. It was not hard to make friends because you’re all in the same miserable boat.

    Cons

Upper management put pressure on management who tried to be nice. Always pressing for time on the phones, it’s good to buy us food but everyday it seemed they didn’t want us to leave, period. Their products are so bad they can’t keep people off the phones and their platforms are similar. Get your series 7/66 and leave. Learn how to be rejected and please help those who need financial advice; don’t churn them like the bank seems to push. Don’t act like someone in debt is worthless. Preach customer service and simultaneously teach associates to get them off the phone when they don’t play financial dice with a 2X year old.

    Advice to Management

Half the associates will be gone when they adopt the new managed portfolios. Management was nice upper management put way too much pressure on others

    Pros

BofA--Merrill Lynch provides a great name to your resume, unbelievable benefits, and a whole lot of job security. If you want a job that is a job, and not a career...this is a great place for you.

    Cons

The company and hiring managers make promises about the position of Client Service Representative, like this will help you get somewhere else within the company but management is a joke. They are unsupportive of career goals and really just want employees to effect there lives as little as possible. Most people go there so they don't have to work and just punch the timesheet but for someone hungry to do well with their career, do not go. It's virtually a sweatshop where EVERYTHING is watched. Time on phone, off phone, unavailablity, quality, time on a call, compliance; you will be reprimanded for not following rules by managers that want to do nothing to help.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with your potential employees. Don't hire employees with a degree who want to do something with their lives, just to turn around and hire another employee with no degree, no GED, or no basic understanding of geography. I kid you not they hire employees that don't know common states or cities (like what state Las Vegas is in...come on!) It's insulting and demoralizing. I'd rather you not hire me than to surround me with that kind of culture.
