I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Stable, depending on manager you get a lot of support. Lots of benefits and resources at the corporate level. A friendly and collaborative environment that is less cut throat and better work life balance than the rest of the street.

    Cons

Depends on manager, too much management, a lot of things need to get done but some managers are always looking for resources to manage but won't roll up their sleeves. You don't always have a well defined career plan if your manager needs you in your current position.

    Advice to Management

HR and senior management need direct dialogues with employees, people are too dependent on personality, opinion and advice of their direct manager who will put their personal needs over the needs of the firm.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

If you work hard ..people notice and opportunities await! My work/life balance is the best I have ever encountered. Had great managers/mentors in my 8 years that truly helped me become a well rounded, well skilled employee.

    Cons

Bonus is heavily weighted to higher management

    Advice to Management

Base Bonus (Comp) on P4P and ONLY profitability of our company

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Many projects, career advancement, culture of valuing employees. Annual raises and semi-annual performance reviews. Professional atmosphere, good colleagues. Very generous family leave.

    Cons

Corporate culture and red tape. If you get on a bad project you can end up working long hours with difficult deadlines. It all depends on which team you are on. Once you have been there for a while you can speak up and transfer to different teams.

    Advice to Management

Continue to offer flexibility to working parents, including telecommuting and generous family leave. Try to cut the red tape on projects a bit to make it easier to accomplish things faster.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Comfortable pace, talented people, solid salary and benefits, expertise, flexible work arrangement, opportunities for self-directed improvement, interest in performance over pedigree

    Cons

Diminishing opportunities, diminishing funding, increasing layoffs, fear-governed technology, antiquated processes, burdensome governance, lack of promotions, very little vision, the talent thins the higher you go

    Advice to Management

You can have upward mobility and layoffs, or no upward mobility and no layoffs - but you jeopardize talent when you have no upward mobility and layoffs.

    Pros

Amazing management support out of the Newport Beach office.

    Cons

Underwriting, need I say more? It's getting better but still a pain.

    Advice to Management

Lessen the responsibilities of the loan officer once the file has been submitted to underwriting.

I have been working at Bank of America as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work from home depending on your team. Managers understand our travel role and do accommodate that. Good support but you have to speak up and ask.

    Cons

Training could be better but they know that and are actively working towards improving this.

    Advice to Management

Our group of managers are great. Each area is different.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great vacation/bank holidays and sick time. Also, the maternity leave is wonderful as they give 16 weeks. Health benefits are good.

    Cons

Can only advance if you are seeking management position. Therefore, little room to grow. Pay is lower than other mortgage companies. The yearly pay increase is very minimal to say the least.

    Advice to Management

    Reward employees with better pay.

    Pros

Loved the work. Great benefits, paid time off and location was easily accessible. Good team leadership most of the time.

    Cons

Small team, not much room for advancement in that dept. Lazy coworkers didn't pull their weight and there were no repercussions.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention. Value your good employees don't take them for granted.
