    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay is great, people are friendly, and benefits are pretty darn good.

    Cons

The AIX/Linux work is a very narrow silo, and is not technically challenging. Furthermore, if you are looking to join the SAP e-Ledger UNIX team, insist on talking to current team members, and ask them point blank about the immediate manager. Oh - and *zero* career opportunities there.

    Advice to Management

Stop the "we value our people" propaganda. You'll do a RIF and not think twice, have taken away the periodic WFH perk, and make contractors with health issues move to suit your agenda (or fire them).

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

For a bank they use far more advanced systems and technology than you might think, and when you get on a hot well funded project it is stunning to see the behemoth move and execute on highly complex and enormous scale projects.

    Cons

The maintenance jobs in IT are often dead end and it takes a lot of effort and some luck to break into the more interesting tech and higher pay ranges. A migration path from support to core IT might both draw better people to support roles and bring more savvy techs to core who have experience with the products.

    Advice to Management

Take better care of the little guys.

I worked at Bank of America for more than 10 years

    Pros

Well paying; excellent benefits; Strong & talented staff, for the time being (mostly retained from legacy acquisitions)

    Cons

Lost focus on value of employees as assets; Too much focus on immediate stockholder returns, instead of what will maintain those returns in the long term

    Advice to Management

Get back to basics of providing solid reliable products and services and retaining loyal employees to help maintain those well into the future.

I worked at Bank of America for more than 8 years

    Pros

Potentially good salaries but that also puts you on the radar for layoffs when trimming the budget is needed.

    Cons

Not as employee friendly as Merrill Lynch. Rules keep changing as senior management changes. A lot of middle management are more people managers and know little about the work their employees are doing.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the layers of management between low level works and the CEO.
