I have been working at Bank of Ireland full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Generally there are plenty of opportunities if you look for them to build a long term career. The salary is generally well above what similar jobs in other industries would pay.

    Cons

It is a really political organisation where who you know and how you go about getting the job done are often more important than how good a job you do.

I worked at Bank of Ireland as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall this is a great place to work. The people at all levels are really nice to work with. Senior management are accessible, and most have their finger on the pulse of what is going on. The work ins interesting, and well paced.

    Cons

Need to drag the systems into this century. Too many blocking group security policies. The entire infrastructure could do with being upgraded. Sometimes management by committee will strangle and block good ideas.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to those in teams outside your own when looking to fill a space. There is a lot of potential in offices that is not being fully utilised
