I have been working at Bank of the Ozarks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some employees work very hard and others get away with too much.

Management have favorites and it is very obvious.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people who actually make things happen and do the work.

I worked at Bank of the Ozarks (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hours were convenient and created a work life balance.

    Cons

The manager was not good and looked for reasons to keep employees there and from moving by writing them up for minor incidents. When District manger was addressed he allowed this activity to continue.

    Pros

Pay is okay depending on the department your in. Good 401k. No waiting period for paid holidays. Three free Bank of the Ozarks shirts that can be worn with jeans. Headquarters looks nice.

    Cons

1st thing there is not a lot of training for positions that require training in order to be accomplished. People act like giving you the correct training will make them loss their job. Hard to get advancement with no training. Any training they do provide is the bare minimum. Racism is a big problem at this bank. They are not as diverse as they claim to be. Managers love to be sucked up too as well. I wouldn't recommend this bank to anyone not even my worst enemy.

    Advice to Management

Stop looking at the color of a person's skin as a hiring factor, hire more minorities and Train your employees better.

I worked at Bank of the Ozarks (More than 3 years)

    Pros

401(k) match, didn't have to take my job home with me, decent equipment provided to perform duties

    Cons

Department heads are not held accountable for their terrible decisions, answer to no one. Employees are not treated as human beings. Company gives out cheap plastic gifts for the hard work that makes them so much money instead of sharing the profits. Salary and insurance provided is an absolute joke! Applying to jobs within the company is made difficult and cannot be done without supervisor's written permission. Impossible to grow and move forward in a career unless you do very dishonorable things and break policies.

    Advice to Management

Take more interest in your employees and actually evaluate your department heads! Stop giving out cheap "rewards" and pay real wages/bonuses to those that earned you that #1 Bank title. Promote hiring within the company and advance people's career's. Use your profits to provide real insurance options to the employees that do the real work.

I worked at Bank of the Ozarks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No real goals to reach compared to other regional banks' goals. Decent products and services offered. Overall easy workload in today's cut throat banking scene.

    Cons

Detached management. Corporate looks down their noses at branch personnel. Watch your back !! Discrimination and double standards abound due to age, lifestyle choices, etc. Trust no one ! Especially outside your local personnel. Spies abound !!

    Advice to Management

Stop the use of spies and back stabbers amongst regional and corporate personnel. The arrogance of the executives is very palpable to everyone. Double standards abound. Poor management. Hush money given to keep disenfranchised employees from filing unfair labor practice lawsuits.

    Pros

Bank hours, which is great if you have kids in school, weekends off, not horrible pay, training, unfortunately, that's all I could come up with.

    Cons

I was fired because I needed 3 days off to deal with a family emergency. I watched a teller/ CSR apply several times to move up to a slightly higher position, only to be overlooked by an outsider who had no experience, and was a high school buddy of the loan officer, she recently was able to move to her own office, and have a promotion that is not a promotion. She received no raise, and they told her is not a promotion.

    Advice to Management

Try carrying about your employees, without them you're nothing. Your interest rates are embarrassing. Do something good with the health insurance, geez!

    Pros

A handful of coworkers made it tolerable other than that I can't seem to think of anything else that was positive about the company.

    Cons

The training absolutely stinks. The expectations of the people behind the teller line is ridiculous. All work and no pay. Upper management has no understanding of what goes on behind the teller line until you make a mistake and then they are quick to repemend you with write ups.

I worked at Bank of the Ozarks part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Relationships with co-workers and some customers made the job tolerable. Oh and the slow days.

Those are the only pros that come to mind.

    Cons

Terrible pay. Even worse benefits. 401k is okay, though you have to work there YEARS before you are fully vested.

If you get hired on as a part of their retail staff be prepared to take on many job responsibilities with no monetary compensation and absolutely zero respect. Basically, the retail staff is the workhorse of the company.

HR is an absolute nightmare. They only care about protecting the bank's interest so if you actually have a problem at work, don't expect them to help you out with anything.

If you are thinking about working here, don't. There is absolutely no room to move up. Upper management loves to hire good ole boys, who know little to nothing about the company. The most you might be able to do is be a branch manager, MAYBE a loan assistant if you suck up to the right person.

Seriously, don't even entertain the thought of working here and if you already do, quit.

    Advice to Management

Stop inflating reviews! The 4-5 star reviews are just upper management trying to make the company look good.

Start treating ALL of your employees with respect instead of sitting there with your God complex.

Stop piling the work load on everyone in operations and retail because what you are doing is clearly not working since the turn over rate is so high.

The training is an absolute joke! Sending an email out two or three times a week and expecting people to remember everything is not training in the slightest bit.

I have been working at Bank of the Ozarks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Steady paycheck for now, coworkers on the same level are a delight to work with, online training is a bit helpful.

    Cons

There is not enough space to list everything. Micromanaging at its finest, you pretty much have to ask permission to use the restroom, upper management could care less about the employees, degraded daily.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the same attitudes and no one will stay. Quit finding all the negative in everything, positive reinforcement goes a long way.
