    Pros

Pay was average, accumulate time off fairly quickly, could be a little flexible with schedule. Benefits decent.

    Cons

Old, dated office furniture. Very crowded work area. Not good to be in a basement across form the toilet. Management was very scattered and didn't provide training.

I have been working at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center full-time

    Pros

The staff work really hard as it is a very high paced environment. There is little oversight, but mostly self-driven individuals keep the department running fairly safely through disasters despite poor management.

    Cons

The current management is seeking employment elsewhere after poorly managing for several years, but hopefully replacements will improve the state of things. The current incentive system rewards lazy, selfish workers while people that actually work for improving the department are actually discouraged either through lack of support or lack of recognition. There is a lack of the sense of team in the department, it is very segmented and current management seems to make things worse by pitting staff members against each other and removing themselves from staff. There is no human connection as they strive to make the department feel like a corporation.

    Advice to Management

Recognize deserving individuals, and help them by providing encouragement, resources, and managerial support to keep lasting positive change. Everyone strives to care for patients but keeping a cold corporate environment dissuades people from going above and beyond.

I worked at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This hospital is a great place for training new employees for first time job position.

    Cons

The treatment of employees leaves a lot to be desired. Raises are as little as 3 cents when the CEO's are given 4 million dollar bonuses ??? so just that speaks a lot about Corporate, which is plain greed and has total disregard for 90 % of employees. They also allow management to do whatever they want to whomever they want and get away with it.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees fairly whether you like them or not. Power trips are personality defects and speaks volume for how you do your job and how you treat others. No matter what your actions are, good or bad, they will always show.

    Pros

I was able to take advantage of Banner's tuition reimbursement for my BSN. My manager's were always able to accommodate my school schedule.

    Cons

Nursing process improvements were not always adequately communicated or implemented by management.

    Advice to Management

Most nurses I worked with would advice that their nurse managers/supervisors be more visible on the floor during times of high acuity.

    Pros

The employees here make this place fun to work for. Management does not hover or micro manage.

    Cons

Low on the pay scale and compensation map for Arizona.

    Advice to Management

Wages should be comparable to other hospitals, not just for nurses but ancillary staff as well.
