I have been working at Banner Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I traveled for a few years. What I found was, no where was perfect, all hospital systems were screwed up in their own special way. Banner is a pretty good place to work for, I certainly have seen places way more messed up.

    Cons

It's healthcare, and a large organization. Bureaucracy runs rampant. Obamacare is making healthcare an unpleasant job choice all the way around, the satisfaction scores are turning it into a hotel.

    Advice to Management

How do I know, they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Government over site, medicaid regulations, etc, etc. I'm glad I don't have to run it. If I had to pick one thing, look at the long picture, not the next quarter budget.

I have been working at Banner Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Large company with plenty of opportunity.
    Flexible scheduling
    Competitive pay
Great benefits, vacation time, tuition reimbursement, short term disability for surgeries etc.

    Cons

There is no pension, working for a large corporation often means you have to follow suit within each facility. Which is fine for the larger hospitals, not so much for the smaller.

I have been working at Banner Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Peers/Co-workers are awesome
Building new facilities and updating/renovating aging " old" patient care areas
Nothing else is coming to mind...

    Cons

    Micro-managed
    Zero autonomy
    Disrespectful superior
They do not replace leadership roles when they are vacated- the old "do more with less" but make sure all the work is completed and patients stay safe
Disorganized orientation for new leaders to management
Seem to be worried about retention - but only action for improvement is through surveys and meaningless conversations about the results of these surveys
Benefits ( insurance and PTO) are significantly subpar for a " leadership" position

    Advice to Management

Experienced and professional staff are to be embraced and treated with respect. Please do not speak down or rudely to staff. Who would want to stay here? No thank you. Never have I experienced such a culture...
