I have been working at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team , plenty of supplies. Gain a lot of expeadvance rotate holidays year to year. Extra pay on weekends

    Cons

No room for advancement.sceldule about 12 weeks in advance .short staffed Or sent home if patient ratio isnt good enough just to get called back in hours later. Expensive insurange if you have family.

    Advice to Management

Make staff feel like they are not just another body. If staffing and budget changes ,offer other postions that are open instead of making them apply to each position.Or give them more than 30 days to do so.

I have been working at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Employee parking is free.

    Cons

Short orientation. I am a seasoned nurse, however, I only received a few weeks of orientation. I am new to their system and would have appreciated a few more weeks of orientation. The hospital is old school in many ways. The Doctors are very rude; they make you feel incompetent and you can't say much to them without them insulting your intelligence. I dread coming to work. You can't enjoy lunch and on most days. And sometimes you don't get a chance to go to the bathroom. Why is it ok for doctors to be rude? But this is a Christian based hospital. PTO doesn't start until after 90 days and most holidays it is short staffed and your left to drown. I feel like I can't say anything or I will get called to the office I wish I stayed with my last employer. Don't believe their hype, it is all LIES!!!

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be more proactive with their unit and staff. Nurse managers need to remember they were floor nurses and to be a little more understanding towards their staff. On most days we are overwhelmed and drowning.
