I worked at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The hospital cares about every patient.

    Cons

Parking is very inconvenient and adds on average 30 mins to the commute each way ( twice daily). Pay is moderate with very little increase per year.
Need clinical nurse specialists on every nursing unit.
More improved security is needed at the hospital.

    Advice to Management

    Recognize all outstanding employees
    Support education and professional development

I have been working at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Clean, professional work environment. Other nurses and staff are pleasant and friendly. Excellent inpatient behavioral health unit. Opportunities in many specialty areas, to include peds.

    Cons

Salary/hourly rate is low for area. Also has a lot of political decision making within the organization. Employees who have been employed a long time seem to have the power to get away with almost anything and if you have a complaint against them nothing will be done.

    Advice to Management

Increase compensation. Have higher standards for nurses. Hire nurses with appropriate experience and properly train/provide support for new hires and especially newly licensed RNs.
