    Pros

    Pay
    Benefits
    They feed you well
    Active in the community

    Cons

Some of the supervisors/leads are unapproachable
Training class is in dire need of a computer system that works so you know what to expect when speaking with customers.
There is no training manual, you are stuck in a class that consist of taking notes.
Hiring staff/supervisor paint you picture of how great is to work there and how supportive everyone is when in reality it's 30% true
When you accept the job, be prepared to be called/hounded daily by recruiting staff to make sure you are still taking the job

    Advice to Management

Get computers/training system that allows you follow through and know what to expect when handling customers requests
    Don't hire lazy/unapproachable supervisors/leads

    Pros

Good benefits is the only plus side other than that there really isn't anything else.

    Cons

They mess with paychecks and how overtime is calculated which causes big issues with people.

    Advice to Management

Learn to treat your employees as people and not numbers.

I have been working at Barclays full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Barclays introduced dynamic working which allow us to work from home at least once a week. Not all groups are eligible. But if you're one of the lucky ones, it's the best scenario. Work life balance is good but depends on the group and manager.

    Cons

Lack of career development and promotion. Raises are Little (insulting) or none. Bonus is not competitive. Bouts of laid offs are still occurring albeit less frequent. Shutting down businesses that are non-core.

    Advice to Management

Maximize the talent of your employees instead of under utilizing their skills performing mundane tasks. Some managers do not empower their employees to optimize their performance.

I worked at Barclays full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Reimbursed cabs, private cars; free meals; salary + bonus

    Cons

Hours; everyone was miserable; encourages culture of "drones"; After redesigning outdated systems/mechanisms that are used to provide support to my entire team with huge time saving enhancements as well as learning how to be a better analyst with regard to products/industries/financial valuation methodologies outside my direct scope, I was told that was a waste of time and just to focus on my little niche. Company is very outdated and old school with lots of hazing techniques embedded in the various groups. All the investment banks probably have this to some degree, but at least the others know how to pay employees and keep them from going to hedge funds / private equity.

    Advice to Management

Embrace the investment banking culture or spin-off the bank. Don't try to keep it, but have the opposite culture. If you don't improve pay, brain drain will continue to goldman sachs or hedge funds / private equity.

Well established global company, with offices throughout the US.

    Cons

In the last 10 years, senior management has changed several times. Constantly restructuring! There are no more mid level managers...VPs and Senior VPs have all been laid off.

    Advice to Management

Stop laying off your experienced staff. HR support team is overseas!

I worked at Barclays full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Barclays is a very employee friendly company. Their U.S. benefits packages are among the best I've ever had with a large multi-national bank. Great staff and management team during my tenure.

    Cons

Senior level management (C-Level) stability has been an issue for a while. They need to look at how they can manage stability at that C-level while maintaining the excellent employee culture they have created
