Excellent management who really cares about your well-being as an employee.

      Pros

There is no micro-managing in the investment banking world which allows for a stress free environment. We have schedules of course, but we all put in our time and get the job done to the best of our ability so there are no small issues involving time management.

      Cons

It is very difficult to advance unless a member of senior management decides to step down. We have 2 managers and the rest are analysts and the only time employees advance is if they leave the department or seek other employment opportunities.

      Pros

      * Company spends a lot to update technology * Work Life Balance is good * Gym and Nurses onsite * Salary is decent; however, health insurance and other benefits are costly.

      Cons

      * Diversity is lacking in Senior Management (badly) * some managers from Lehman are still living in the past and hold back employees from promotions * Employer is Big in the news for LGBTQ+; however, its not represented at work until June. * Health insurance benefits are costly

      Pros

Recently constructed campus , nice garage and gym, food is decent (still overpriced for NJ and not subsidized like other companies)

      Cons

Management constantly adjusts targets to reflect how well individuals are performing. Uneven level playing field in which certain individuals are swamped while others thrive. This was an issue since senior management glosses over their perception from reality. Unnecessary micromanaging - people get reprimanded for being "away" on their chats.

      Toxic culture

      Pros

The cards business continues to grow. Base compensation is fair compared to the market.

      Cons

The culture within cards & payments is very toxic. The CIO reports into the COO, which means Technology is run like Ops. Senior management seems to think technology people are exchangeable like people in a call center. The focus is on people being in the office from 9-5, instead of looking at true outcomes. No flexibility for remote work. Although the cards business is doing well and growing, bonuses are down year after year after year. New management In Cards & Payments is looking for opportunities to move positions to India.

      Pros

Employees with various backgrounds all around Very open to increasing self-awareness and enhancing team collaboration skills Great culture Incentivizes volunteering People generally want to help others Mistakes are forgiven Flexible work from home ability On site health center Can easily shine because the department is smaller Barclays pays less than competitors. May be for the better reputation you’re working for

      Cons

Long hours on certain teams/lack of work life balance Every changing methodology and addition of micromanaging tasks Senior management tough on deadlines Culture is not as great at the top Bureaucracy US employees can feel like the disowned step child Impossible to get promoted on some teams since management looks for heavily seasoned individuals Too consumed with ad hoc work to take on meaningful projects that will actually get you recognized

      Pros

Senior Management/ExCos really cares about engaging employees at all levels. The way that percolates down to each team depends on the extent to which mid level managers

      Cons

Some mid-level managers are very toxic and defend their turf ferociously

      Pros

Good mentorship. Good work life balance for banking.

      Cons

Slow bureaucracy that is very risk averse. Getting better, however. Senior management in some cases needs to move on. Many in the middle (i.e. many new associates and VPs) add no value and are undertrained.
