Pros
Ah, Ninja Turtles TV series 2012-2017. It had its ups and downs over 5 years, but for me it was a constantly challenging, fun, learning environment with some of the best people I've worked with over 20+ years in animation. Had a blast there, 16 weeks animation/episode, bump weeks, 3 stages, solid writing, great balance of acting and action, and terrific production support will not be replicated again. Season 5 was the...

Some people were overworked and burned out on that project; it was extremely demanding and sometimes difficult to watch people struggle who were outside of the sphere of help.
Advice to Management
Run all your projects like TMNT with dedicated staff (not overlapping projects) having the ability to push back and build a give-and-take relationship with the client.

Pros
They always have something to work on and they are good at retaining their top performing employees. The work environment is nice and friendly.
Cons
The overall maintenance of the studio needs improvement. The kitchen areas are small and get cluttered easily during the lunch hours. Restrooms usually get out of order and so does the elevator.
Advice to Management
Spend a little money on the overall maintenance of the studio. Hire more people to take care of the studio.

Pros
Good TV experience. The shows were fun to work on. Many talented animators.
Cons
High quota. Seem to have some growing pains still. The budget for the shows are too low. It seems Bardel way underbid. For the quality the directors want it is not achievable.
Advice to Management
Bardel underbid for these contracts. You can't guilt trip your employees to work free overtime because of you underbid.

Pros
Great place to work Almost no OT, great for people with family Some show are very organized and pipeline works fine. Lot of mixed people, from 20-60 in all positions.
Cons
need better kitchen, to crowded bathrooms is a nightmare, radio of 1 for 100 people.
Advice to Management
if you are doing a company social event, please don't be cheap, do it right!

Pros
- Cool current projects and future ones, a good place to learn and improve on one's skills regardless of experience - Lots of good people and awesome artists to work with - They have a benefits package now - Good work/ life balance on current project - Location is near one of more historic parts of Vancouver and lots of nice places to eat are close by and very accessible be Transit
Cons
- Benefits are nice but could still be more comprehensive, also communication and how it was rolled out was lacking - Not all shows have the same hours, some are good but others required lots of OT - Pay is on the lower end of local studios - Studio at Beatty is lacking in how many bathrooms( 5 for about a 100 people ) and a persistent rodent problem
Advice to Management
The studio has grown a lot over the last few years and there have been some visible improvements with that growth and more opportunities as well. However pay needs addressing and while the benefits package is a good step, the roll out of it was confusing and I was left with lots of questions and communication left something to be desired.

RecommendsNeutral OutlookDisapproves of CEOI have been working at Bardel Entertainment full-time for more than 4 years
Pros
They have the coolest shows to work on hands down. People are all really nice. The equipment is excellent, and facilities are good. Training is decent in the 2D department. Plenty of work.
Cons
Contracts are constantly being messed with, as if they don't mean anything, which adds a lot of stress to an already highly stressful job. Pay is ridiculously low. Like minimum wage low which means quality of life is poor. Quota requires you to work at 100% capacity 100% of the time or you fall behind. So no room for a very humanly 'off' day or any hopes of working hard enough to give yourself a half day as a reward....
Show MoreAdvice to Management
Either raise the base salary or lower the base quota. Or better yet, just give folks the median rate as a flat salary like they deserve and create a quota based on average performance of non-senior animators. Remember that contracts go both ways. Show some respect to your animators. And not just with pretty words. Show them you respect them the way a decent company would - with money. Stop trying to expand so fast...

Disapproves of CEOI have been working at Bardel Entertainment full-time for more than 4 years
Pros
-Meet cool people -Work on some cool shows -Decent first job opportunity
Cons
-Depending on which show you work on you may end up working a LOT of overtime and unfortunately it is all unpaid. -Low starting salary BUT if you work hard and stay for multiple contracts you can get some solid increases -Shows are often under-staffed causing people to work long hours in order to meet tight deadlines
Advice to Management
Instead of trying to juggle so many shows, make sure the ones you have are staffed properly. Often times people don't want to take time off because you're still expected to fill quota and depending on the episode it can be hard on your team. This will also help prevent all the unpaid overtime and feeling of overwork.
