I have been working at Bargain Hunt full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Depending on the store manager the job can be great! The staff relations are great but sometimes the drama can become unbearable. The company itself is an interesting but great, growing, and learning company.

    Cons

Some times the people can be very passive aggressive. Instead of telling you that you messed up they jump around it instead of attacking it head on. That isn't everyone one though. It is just some workers that are higher up.

    Advice to Management

Keep your head up and stick to what you know. If you know that something should be done do it yourself instead of waiting or telling someone else to do it for you.

  3. "Not a good company to work for"

    Pros

There is opportunity to move up in the company. That's all I can think of that could be a pro.

    Cons

Corporate expects it to look like a Walmart or Target but a lot of items they sell are either broken, missing pieces, or are taped up or in trash bags. You won't ever be able to get it looking nice no matter how you try. The company is not organized and sometimes the store won't get a truck for two weeks, so you try to fill out the shelves as much as possible, and then you'll get multiple trucks in a week and not have space to fit everything, but are still expected to put it out. There are so many other cons, but I'm just going to say it's not a good place to work. Any other minimum wage job is better than this place.

    Advice to Management

Listen to problems from people who actually work at the stores instead of assuming that certain things will work better.

I worked at Bargain Hunt full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people I worked with are nice

    Cons

    1. They didn't pay me or anyone on my staff but the store CEO for almost two months last year.
    2. There is zero loss prevention and they blame the employees for their lack of work.
    3. They do not coroporate with police officials when theft happens. It took over a month for them to give footage to the police of a theft we hadn't in the store.
    3. They do not do proper safety briefs
    4. They were changing mine and other managers times to paynus less and when we confronted them they gave us the run around
    5. They promise health insurance but would never comply to multiple requests of how to apply or what we needed to do to get it.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your employees better.

I worked at Bargain Hunt (More than a year)

    Pros

Lower management was fantastic. Hours were reasonable and employee discounts were nice.

    Cons

Upper management and franchisers were rude micro managers. The store I worked at dropped sales and was unable to provide me with hours to work.

    Advice to Management

Put employees first and truly value them like your lower management does. Give them real opportunities for advancement.

    Pros

Associates, you are all in the same boat. You create a team. Great idea of product, customers love to save.

    Cons

Upper management style of managing, threaten you with your job. Threaten everyone with their job and corporate will never help. They are not trying to build a company, they are just trying to make more money. Those profits are not shared with the $8 an hour staff. For $8 an hour, you should be happy I showed up. It's a constant push to get product out and if you don't, we'll find someone else for $8 an hour...Good luck, your reputation will get you!

    Advice to Management

Learn to become a manager and a leader. Company promotes individuals because they have been there awhile and they have no management experience.
