I have been working at Barney & Barney full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I love the Core values of integrity, collaboration, passion, innovation and accountability. It starts at the top and Senior Management embodies these values and they filter down. It is refreshing. I have also found Management willing to answer tough questions when asked and very supportive of good, hard working employees. I also applaud that they are willing to have tough conversations with non-performers as well...

    Cons

People leaving and speaking negatively about an organization and its leadership when they have every opportunity to have a conversation prior.

I have been working at Barney & Barney full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Most of the people are friendly, decent benefits and bonus.

    Cons

There are people who have worked there forever and this cause some issues. One being, they don't leave so opportunity to advance in certain areas is nonexistent. Two, this means some people who don't treat others well are never let go and they cause high employee turnaround, especially when they have no business being in a supervisor position. Three, causes low morale. Some positions are paid too low and raises are...

    Advice to Management

Just because there is not an HR discipline for certain things, doesn't mean it's ok. If you get numerous complaints about someone, and employees go in and out like a revolving door, that means a change is necessary. This should not favor the fact the person has been with the company forever and they show their superiors a different side. It must be dealt with. Stop sweeping things under the rug. No one person is...

I have been working at Barney & Barney full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Management is very approachable and open to feedback - Most positions have a direct path for growth and for those that don't, you can generally create one - Culture is great and the people are great. I've made quite a few long term friends here. - 401K match, pretty good benefits, wellness $$ rewards towards medical expenses, 10 days vacation plus 3 sick days and 3 personal days, 10 paid holidays plus we usually...

    Cons

    - There are new hires all the time so it's getting harder to know as many people - Can be pretty quiet around the office

    Advice to Management

Continue GROW mentorship program and the Barney & Barney Foundation. Make an effort to keep up the family culture, even when offices get bigger.

    I worked at Barney & Barney full-time

    Pros

Some really intelligent and inspiring women work for the company. You will gain a lot of experience, and work extremely hard.

    Cons

1.) Low pay 2.) Too many distractions and pressure to be involved in company social programs 3.) Insurance benefits are sub-par 4.) Not enough women in higher paying roles 5.) Work/Life balance

    Advice to Management

Depending on which team or department you land in will determine what kind of experience you have while working there. I was fortunate to have a great team. Unfortunately, there seems to be completely different cultures between departments (and some departments seem much more enjoyable than others). I did find it very unprofessional that the Human Resources Business Partner who scheduled me for an exit interview, completely...

I worked at Barney & Barney full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Sorry I have none.

    Cons

Good ol' boys club lack of diversity low pay low bonus- sometimes no bonus even though it is put in your offer letter horrible management- Management has never been trained on how to manage no training- the training is laughable hourly positions unless your upper management you pay for parking every week benefits are expensive disorganized

    Advice to Management

Not sure if there is a point in adding advice to management because Barney and Barney is the type of employer that sadly has gotten away with doing things in a certain horrible fashion that they are actually delusional in thinking that their great. One of the reasons that they believe that is the majority of their hires are straight out of college. People who really either didn’t have ANY real world, real job experience...

    I worked at Barney & Barney full-time

    Pros

Great culture; good people. Volunteer opportunities (paid) and office get-togethers abound. 7.75 hour work day.

    Cons

Compensation on the lower end, though it picks up speed with promotion. "Flex time" not so flexible with a minority of managers.
