    Pros

    Great Vacation Package
    Great Tuition Reimbursement Program
Lots of Incentives and Bonus options

    Cons

    High Deductible Insurance Plan
    Unsure of Company Stability
    Low CEO Approval Rating

    Advice to Management

Upper management should make efforts to be more involved in location happenings. There seems to be a major disconnect from Toronto Management and mine site locations.

    Pros

Decent pay, benefits, people, multiple sites

    Cons

Driving out to these hell hole sites and having a hell hole of a town. Management could be better.

    Advice to Management

Pay increases based on the number of hours to commute to each site.

    Pros

Cool co-workers! Sometimes there was drama but it was mostly smooth. The gold price hit us hard, both up and down.

    Cons

The drama that did pop up came from managers who you would never have guessed would behave so badly. Yeah, the gold price hit us hard, both up and down.

I worked at Barrick Gold full-time

    Pros

Employees are treated very well with excellent compensation and benefits. There is solid local management at the mines and working conditions are generally good.

    Cons

Excessive interference from corporate management in daily operations. The implementation and management of expensive and counter-productive corporate mandates decreases the efficiency of the mines. Also the amount of debt amassed by the corporate leadership has put the company in a very difficult position.

    Advice to Management

Corporate management needs to start putting serious emphasis on fiscal responsibility and resist the temptation to try to solve every problem with an expensive software application. For example, rather than enforcing speed limits, the company spends millions of dollars maintaining a GPS system for every vehicle. A luxury that a company with $10 billion in debt can't afford.

    Cons

Too much politics. Absolutely zero transparency. No trust among employees.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the core issues of business

I have been working at Barrick Gold full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, flexible schedules, fun people to work with, and the office environment in the non-corporate offices (so anywhere but Toronto) are fun and laid back.

    Cons

Corporate choices don't seem to reflect the efforts of each region
Currently relocating a major US office to a location that makes zero sense for access to mining operations

    Advice to Management

You need some people with mining expertise back up at the top levels again -Barrick is not a finance company and shouldn't look like one when reading the top level rosters. While I understand you need to make some choices with political motivations you should make those motivations clear. Being transparent in choices that affect 100's of people and their day-to-day lives would make a difference. and making those choices should never be taken lightly. If I had reviewed Barrick just a few years ago this would have been a 5 star review. Things have really gone downhill

The bus ride from Elko to the Bald Mt. mining site was long 1 hour and 40 minutes each way.
