I have been working at Barrick Gold full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Barrick offers great opportunities for advancement and learning. Coworkers are experienced and professional and a pleasure to work with. They're also engaged with the local community.

    Cons

They expect quite a bit from their employees. There have been many days spent working from home or the office in town. They're going through a bit of a management change and are expecting people to essential work two jobs. Also, their pay isn't as high as competing companies.

I have been working at Barrick Gold full-time

    Pros

Mining has started to embrace technology, digitization and innovation and Barrick is leading this charge. Therefore, if you never thought about a career in mining you may be pleasantly surprised on what Barrick has to offer

    Cons

Although some of the best and brightest people to work with, the industry itself does go through commodity price cycles which can affect profitability

    Advice to Management

Need to spend more time at high schools and universities educating students on the transformation of the mining industry and to attract the new talent and skill sets that will be needed for mining in the future.

    Cons

The commute is long, working hours are long, and they are a 24/7 facility so expect overnight shifts.

I have been working at Barrick Gold full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Global company. Leave early on Friday’s during summer.
The benefits are pretty good. Nothing more than that to add as a pro.

    Cons

    Almost everything.

Leadership is a joke. ELT fight each other constantly. COO is a bully who doesn’t know a thing about mining. Only focus is hiring ex military. New HR is irrelevant at best. The rest of the executives are only concerned about themselves and their own executive comp. They continually sacrifice their own employees for their own benefit. Anyone who says otherwise is either lying or doesn’t know what’s really going on.

It’s inevitable that anyone below Executive will eventually be let go. Once again we have gone through another round of terminations at corporate. We continue to let the Best go and keep the cronies.

Many of us want to leave but are sticking around for a package.

Ask yourself, is this a company you would want to join???

Do yourself a favour at look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Advise to shareholders - sell your stock. It’s the only way the Board will change the way Leadership.

I worked at Barrick Gold full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, mostly great people. Flexible schedule was available at times.

    Cons

Keeps headcount down, so work can get heaped. Hard to get additional experience in other areas sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, spend as much on training and development as you do on technology.
