I have been working at Barrick Turquoise Ridge full-time (More than 5 years)
High paying job for anyone who is willing to get up and work twelve hours a day. Other than the pay that's really it. This job used to be rewarding\gratifying but changes in management have changed the heart and soul of the site. The former superintendent left a couple of years ago and its been downhill ever since.
You will be lied to constantly. If your not a miner your bonus will be tampered with. Things that you will be told; " You guys barely missed production for the month" "If you don't like it Newmont is probably hiring" They changed the rehab crews bonus and didn't even tell any of them. They all found out when their checks were about a thousand dollars short. If someone in the good old boy club doesn't like you, they will manufacture a way to get rid of you. They promote their friends even when they are no where near being qualified. Your opinion does not count. The mine manager does not care about you at all (the one before this one did but he's in Australia now). This mine manager has no ties to the community and could care less about the town or the people which is evident by the way he has cut people's bonus out and manipulated it to look as if your not reaching your targets.
Advice to Management
Stop lying to your employees. Follow the values that Barrick puts forth.
Your feedback has been sent to the team and we'll look into it.
