benefits are great, access to a lot of free chocolate (employee store, Friday treats)

    Cons

no guidance in the beginning and constant criticism ("that's not how it's done"), most of the people who advance are the ones who are part of every social events, no career path for entry-level employees which leads to a lot of turnover, resume appears to be more important than "real life experience" when it comes to hiring process

    Advice to Management

If you want to keep employees, show them that you value them and make them part of your team.

I worked at Barry Callebaut full-time

    Pros

Was able to learn something new.

    Cons

Good employees are over looked and under paid while employees who socialize more and are horrible workers are those to be awarded with promotions.

    Advice to Management

Ssocializing and popularity is for high school open your eyes up to the over looked gems before they all leave and all you are left with are people who can socialize and dont care about the company.

I have been working at Barry Callebaut full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits package is typical, but recently added paid time off for having a baby. The co-workers, staff, team leaders, and up to plant manager are great to work with.

    Cons

Communication is a huge failure here at times, even last minute changes cause stressful events where creating a product and the schedule changes after you start. Now you create work around to what planning wants to accomplish.

    Advice to Management

Use of communication and positive reinforcement to the team. The entire plant seems to have success there. Unfortunately, my supervisor lacks those skills which makes it extremely stressful and most people have no respect towards him, but has the knowledge of the department through many years.

    Pros

Good atmosphere, fantastic working culture with great inclusion and diversity in our plant, great opportunities to develop and grow, clear and passionate commitment to improve. Manager team trust you with high levels of responsibility.

    Cons

Hard work and long hours may be on your daily routine

    Advice to Management

As lean corporation emphasizes efficient human resource management, workers may feel frustrated. More importantly, do not place the burden to cut costs entirely on them. Instead, lead by example. Implement the lean strategy across corporate offices.
