    Pros

The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation as a whole is quite a fine collection of individuals and schools. Things flow smoothly and the staff care about their students.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the system for employing and assigning substitute teachers falls short of the rest of the corporation. There is no training or preparation for substitutes and the qualifications, besides a background check, are light. Subs, once called for a job, simply show up and depend on the often sketchy or entirely absent lesson plans left by teachers who normally, and understandably, are unprepared for sudden absences. However, this seems to be symptom of the education system as a whole, as what was mentioned above holds true for the other school systems I have seen.

    Advice to Management

Improved training or support for substitutes would help to alleviate the problems outlined above. Any progress would help, as many subs find themselves winging lessons or doing nothing more than babysitting.

I worked at Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation part-time

    Pros

Family friendly, make a difference everyday, great hours

    Cons

    Poor corporate and administration communication
Low pay for hard low level workers, and high pay for lazy corporate level workers
Company would rather cut hours than offer health insurance

    Advice to Management

Pay just a little bit more and you will get a higher quality of employee

I worked at Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some helpful people, decent pay after a few years.
    Insurance is good

    Cons

Starting pay lower than the industry standard.
Overwhelming number of responsibilities for a single person if you show that you have any higher technical skill
Lack of communication from upper management
No growth potential, or if you actually do have a chance, you are not trained for the expectations
A high number of techs should not be in that position
Unobtainable expectations that takes a long time to prove that it's not feasible
Changing things for the better are usually met with a bombardment of complaints

    Advice to Management

Be less Reactive and more Proactive
Either train your low level techs more often to keep up with technology or replace them
Hire more project leads and get proper training for the systems they are supposed to be managingss
