I worked at Bartlett & West full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Allow for a flexible work schedule
    - Provides good tech support
    - Company stays up on the latest technology

    Cons

-Claim to be employee owners but at the end of the day you are just a number
-poor management and upper management only looks out for themselves
-Upper management made poor decision for the company and the lower level employees lost their jobs, while they got to keep theirs

    Advice to Management

When employees ask if you are at risk of being laid off and if there will be layoffs soon, be honest. We have family’s to support too.

I worked at Bartlett & West full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Atmosphere, Culture, Co-workers, common ground, positive attitude, great starter job

    Cons

Low pay, low growth, isolation, minimal skills learned, lack of time to develop in career.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget about your employees (all of them, not just a couple here and there). If opportunities are given to others and the rest are ignored, eventually the ignored will lose interest, feel useless and move on.

I worked at Bartlett & West full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Good work environment. Good benefits.

    Cons

Management tried to make a big company out of a solid medium sized company. Way overestimated revenues and future contracts. Suffering for it.

I have been working at Bartlett & West full-time

    Pros

    Advancement opportunities (to an extent)
    Newly renovated campus in Topeka
    Telecommute available to some
Mostly colleagues are nice and easy to get along with

    Cons

Despite being "Employee Owned", only project managers and up get the VIP ownership treatment
Be prepared to give up reasonable 401K contributions in lieu of a VERY MODEST stock equity program
Management continually promises that everybody will retire millionaires. WIth the reluctance to grow and poor management of all sizes of projects, this isn't even remotely possible
    Non-competitive pay

    Advice to Management

    Spread the wealth

I have been working at Bartlett & West full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours and an involved team. It's a laid back environment that really wants to treat the employees well. It is employee owned, so your success has a direct effect on the success of the company and vice-versa (which can also be a con if either you or the company performs poorly).

    Cons

Still trying to transition from being a much smaller company and they don't have standards set for everything which makes it kind of tough on new comers. Pay is a bit lower than average for most positions.

    Advice to Management

Continue promoting communication between employees and management. Try to organize training a bit more and make it easier for new hires to adjust.

I worked at Bartlett & West full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is a little higher than average but not by much.

    Cons

Politics are very bad there as there is a lot of nepotism. Family members are chosen for positions over other qualified employees and they're very discriminating. Almost all of the company is white, Midwestern men so there's little room for diversity.

    Advice to Management

    Improve hiring practices

    Pros

Bartlett & West has been the best company I have ever worked for. I was not only an employee. I was an employee-owner.

    Cons

The only downside was the commute from Coppell to Fort Worth. There are no downsides if you live near Fort Worth.

    Pros

There aren't any pros to working here really.

    Cons

This place is not making money and will probably be out of business soon.

    Advice to Management

    You are the problem.
