I worked at Barton Creek Resort and Spa full-time

    Pros

Great company to work with. Especially is your starting. PBX/Operator is a great way to start!

    Cons

The distance, other than that I loved working here.

I worked at Barton Creek Resort and Spa part-time

    Pros

Was able to make great tips when the weather was nice and the course was busy. Worked outside the entire time.

    Cons

Worked odd hours, either from 6 to 2 or 2 to dark. Tips were hard to come by in the winter months because there was less play on the golf course.

I worked at Barton Creek Resort and Spa part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Barton Creek has over 900 employees so if you get tired of your position, there are always positions available to transfer into. It's a very positive working environment, great benefits working for Omni (current owner).

    Cons

Not the best pay, but hey that's the hospitality industry...

    Pros

Incredibly friendly staff and great service.

    Cons

The culture was lost when Omni took over.

I have been working at Barton Creek Resort and Spa part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. Super nice managers and supervisors. Very flexible with scheduling around your personal and school needs--within reason.

    Cons

Never received any formal training. They charge a 21% service charge to all purchases, so the likelihood of getting tipped on top of that is very small.

I worked at Barton Creek Resort and Spa part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Funny coworkers, getting to pick the range in peace, tip $$ from well-off members and guests, the Creekside restaurant serves up top notch ranch dressing and hot dogs. Free golf. Great job to have if you're also going to school. Lots of good looking women running around, especially at the pool. Occasionally you see someone famous. Most of the time nobody is breathing down your neck.

    Cons

Management usually sucks, working long shifts on weekends and early opening hours. Tournaments can be rough.

    Advice to Management

    Become better managers.

I have been working at Barton Creek Resort and Spa part-time

    Pros

I have enjoyed working here. My supervisors are friendly and helpful, plus want to see you succeed and will set you up with the opportunities to do so (at least in the spa department).

    Cons

For most jobs, you have to start out as part time for at least 90 days until you can go full time.

    Advice to Management

The spa business is generally catty but keep diffusing it as much as possible. We are a team.

I worked at Barton Creek Resort and Spa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Beautiful property, and coworkers are great.

    Cons

Management, cares nothing about their employees. You will be treated like dirt even when you work hard. Employment practices are very unethical. Hourly staff are not respected and are forced to work very unreasonable hours for little to no pay. They hire great talent and then fire them if they try to move up or if you stand up for yourself.

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees, the reason Barton Creek is a great place and is so successful is because of the hourly employees that work there. Show a little appreciation and show the staff that you actually care about them. Fire your current Operations Director, he is an awful human being.

    Pros

Great golf courses, employee discount on rooms and KSL Resort stays

    Cons

No support from upper level management, limited growth opportunities, lot of micromanagement, spending hours on solutions to problems and nothing is resolved, unproductive meetings, entitled members, a lot of miscommunication between departments

    Advice to Management

Offer better incentives to employees, follow up on promises during interviews, clearly define expectations, TRAIN your employees and support them
